[[New York, Mar 6 (ANI): Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf would resign if the new federal government concedes to ex-premier Nawaz Sharifs demand of reinstating the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, because he does not want to be an ineffective President, a western diplomat in Islamabad considered a close aide of Musharraf, said.

Citing a reason for Musharraf resigning in such a situation, he said that restoration of the deposed CJ would reopen the question of Musharrafs eligibility to be the President and the legality of suspension of the Constitution in November by him.

“The President will resign. He does not want to be an ineffective president,” The Nation quoted the unidentified aide as saying.

The same would happen if lawmakers removed his powers to dissolve Parliament, he further said in the course of a dispatch on the latest political developments in Pakistan.

He added: “He (Musharraf) is considering whether he should go. My feeling is Musharraf would not accept a diminished role; either he is in power or he leaves. Yet Mr. Musharraf, who says he will work with whatever government is formed, remains aggressive publicly and seems determined to remain at the helm.”

The dispatch said that western diplomats in Islamabad privately expressed alarm over the political vacuum, which comes as Islamic extremists are conducting a campaign of suicide bombings. (ANI)]]

CJ's corrupt and should get something other than just being replaced.

I cant understand as to why, "the matter of Musharraf's eligibility to be the President", cannot be cleared by some lawyers who are currently under PCO, why are they silent, why dont they stand up to these CJ and his puppets, and try to engage some kind of battle of words with them.

Some lawyers were beaten up in the courts permises when they refused to joined the voilence, when one ppolitical party announced to burn and destroy the cities.
Naeem Bukhari was beaten up when his letter to CJ was published in newspapers.
Law minister was beaten up.

Amazingly, lawyers couldn't found a single article which says burning public and private property is illegal.
Disrupting normall life is illegal.
Pounding minister or fellow lawyers in court permises is illegal.

You forgot one other thing. The lawyers did nothing when Nawaz Sharif sent his goons into the Supreme Court to beat up the Chief Justices and the other justices. This honestly leaves me to believe that the lawyers are being funded to protest.

Correct terminology, the Chief Justice of Pakistan is Abdul Hameed Dogar. Ifitikhar Muhammad Chaudary can go back to Balochistan where he belongs.

Well said. Wether people believe he is illegal or not as of right now the Supreme Court says he is the Chief Justice. We must get the terminology right. Wether people say he is illegal will be decided latter and the President of Pakistan is General(r) Pervez Musharraf. Their legality will be decided later but they are at their respective positions.

The CJ is a great man.....have any of the silly charges against him been proven?
Lets see if mushy resigns if the CJ is restored, which allah willing will be happing soon.

Mushys "threat".... if thats what you want to call it... to resign is another one his lies.
The only way this guy will leave is if his pushed.

Creating unrest , disturbance, taking law in his hands, invoking people to turn against the President and collecting sympathy from people all around Pakistan just to hide his own mistakes and cruelity and unconstitutional acts, is a proven charge. And all this was done while ignoring the national interest of Pakistan.
Anything else you want??

The CJ is a great man...

:) indeed as Perceptions are stronger than reality

..have any of the silly charges against him been proven?

dabong the question of proving the charges would have been asked only if the case in this regard was carried for hearing the Superme Court.
The charges levelled against the EX-CJ were never taken for hearing in the court so technically these are still to take up for hearing by the court as per rules of law.

And one thing more if Iftilkhat Chaudhry is all so honest he should have faced the charges in the court and should prove these as false if he has no corruption then he should not be afriad of pleading his case in the same court wherein he has been prosecuting others.

The irony is that the case was not taken for hearing in the court as the so-called lawyers started violent protests.

:) well Musharraf will go one day that is for sure so that is not the point.
The point is will Chaudhary Iftikhar IF reinstated Could be Tursted by the people of Pakistan that he will put aside his personal interest and take up cases against Zaradari and Nawaz Sharif for honest hearing ?????????/

Will he be Honest enough to take Suo Motu action over NRO which is also "illegal" will he be able to act as independent and abolish NRO??

Or will he pay back his supporters and close his eyes towards their wrongdoings ?????
