How Suburbs Destroyed America

Don't take other coutries for granted based on your own experience, how many countries have you lived to say so?

A subdivided unit at No. 121 Lanman Hutong, about 10 minutes’ drive from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, changed hands on November 11 for 1.28 million yuan (US$182,400) after 136 rounds of furious bidding during an auction in Beijing.

The new owner bought a 5.6-square metre (72 square feet) cubicle covered in bathroom tiles large enough to fit a bunk bed, with standing room only.
Back in '09, I bought a house 30 min highway time from work. The property is .25 acre. 1500 sq/ft basement. 1500 sq/ft upper level. Total 3000 sq/ft living space. Not counting a 2.5 SUV size garage with an attached workshop wired for 220v for power tools. The backyard is large enough for an RV parking. I built a firepit for socializing and cooking. I paid for that house the same price as that Chinese apartment. I have mountain view in the backyard. Crisp and cold high desert mountain air to enjoy the morning coffee. Warm summer nights filled with fireflies and children and their dogs playing in the neighborhood streets.

Yeah...Terrible life that was...

This fake American thinks that the world revolves around his hillbilly village. Probably hasn't come out of his redneck village for a good part of his life. Stupid redneck needs to get a reality check.
Versus revolving around your third world village?

Did you watch the videos? it's not about whether they are nicer or not, it's about sustainability and impact on the economy.
They've sustained it so far.

With China's economic rise, in the near future you'll see that there too.. big city folk moving to quieter neighborhoods surrounding the big cities. You can begin to see it in some big Indian cities too, people have a house/property in the city but live on the outskirts themselves.. many just sell a small expensive apartment and move to bigger better place just outside.

Many, however, will not have either the means or the desire to move.. as a result of which, you will see more ghettoisation, even of once considered "good" neighborhoods in the cities.

The quiet American suburban life is the good life, at least for some.. though sure, some people like the hustle and bustle of the big city scene and all the convenience it has to offer, which is also fine.. but be prepared to pay big for rent or to buy an apartment.

less or no public transport is never a factor in America, everyone and their dog has private transport there.

This Beijing cubicle is woth 5 times of this suburb house, the only difference is hundreds of people compete to buy this cubicle while no one wants to buy this suburb single house, it has just a price but no buyers even the price is only one fifth of the former.

People make choices for a reason, this is why I tell you don't take what you think or believe for granted.

You are also on a third world forum.

On a different note, I enjoyed how Pakistan fvcked you up real good in Afghanistan. A third world country that your own generals blame for failure in Afghanistan. How does that feel? 🤔 Now Russia is taking you to the cleaners and humiliating you on an epic scale.

Stop being obsessed with China for a day.

Those videos were not made by me, I just quoted them here for an open discussion.

Some people say in PDF that China's high speed raiways are largely running at loss and are not sustainable, I would like to disucss that which one is more unsustainable in the long run, China's ever expanding high speed railway networks or US ever expanding suburbs and deserted cities.

Fine. But that is where you are wrong. Market value is irrelevant to those who WANT that little bit of land. That overpriced apartment? Can you eat off of it? The fact that you had to try to distinguish the minor differences between the Chinese suburb and that American suburb mean you failed to understand human nature. There is no shortage of articles in America telling Americans on how terrible is suburb life, and yet, yr after yr, the suburb continues to exist and even thrive. When I was stationed in the UK, villages are suburbs. When I was in Germany, same thing. Everyone get tire of that little apartment eventually.

Do you think the price can be that high if no one wants it?

Of course people want it. There will always be people who want to live in a virtual prison.
So you just refuted yourself, tons of people want it. this is why I say don't take what you think for granted when it comes to other countries and other cultures.

I did not refuted myself. I never denied the market value of those prisons. But then again, what about those who want the suburb life? What is destroying America ended up existing in China.
