Actually its the blue collar trades like plumber/electrician/warehouse worker/contruction worker/truck driver that are in way more demand than skilled labor. Tech industry is struggling and having massive layoffs, Financial industry is neither firing nor hiring. Meanwhile, there's like a "hiring" sign outside every other restaurant, warehouse etc.

It is all about power but with self-conflicting policies. Canada government extends its power all the way to families, which causes low fertility rate. With a government taking care of you, why do you need children anyway? With all the talk about equality, families with high income is put in disadvantage positions if they choose to have children. Now, they want immigrants to offset the low fertility rate caused by their own policy. It is like asking your left leg to jump after shooting your right leg. Good luck with that.
