Pakistan in talks for 4 Ada Class Corvettes, T-129 Helicopters & modernization of agosta fleet

This would be a departure from PNs usual practice in view of @bilal khan 777s earlier post. I suspect if we go for Chinese weapons, to ease complexities we will adopt a Chinese Radar as well along with weaponry.
A

On Algeria's C28A corvettes, the Thales Smart-S Mk2 radar (also used on Milgem Ada) has been integrated to a Chinese CMS; weapons are all Chinese: C-802A AShM, Type 730B CIWS, FM-90N SAM, etc because most use their own specific radars/sensors.

While @Bilal Khan 777 talked about the troubles in integrating LY-60 on Type 21's, he also mentioned that it was the first time this land based system was being implemented at sea.

Previously, he has made it clear that AShM and CIWS are independent systems and can be installed on any ship irrespective of its origin.

Bonus Info: Algeria is not that "happy" about C28A Corvettes... and some "extra" integration.

Some are criticizing the fact that China didn't get them an uptodate/better version for their export Version compared to the one proposed to Malaysia.
Mostly Canon and C802. and the "Stealth" that is not that stealth in the end.

The way its tranlating, it sounds like the deal is $5bln, but i think that is their agricultural export meaning $1.2bln for 4 ships. That is $300 million per ship. Frankly, short of these being I-class or LF-2400 (which they wont be... Will be standard Ada), PN should have gotten 4 more Type 054A instead. Better weapons, bigger ship, only $25M per ship.

I agree with this to be honest. At $300 million a pop, the PN should wait for the TF-100 (a few years from now) , and in the meantime replace the order with the Type54A.

One solution could be to build the VLS launcher system but leave it empty, until the Hisar-O is fully operationalized. AShM should be easy to integrate and is most likely Harbah.

Its hard to justify 250 million dollars even, if the 54As are only 325. The capability of the latter is just way superior.

Thanks for this important info. Our problems are solved! Chinese Weapons & Missiles other than the main gun with western sensor suit. But I would still want to retain the western countermeasure and ASuW capability. They, at least on paper, seem to be superior than the Chinese suit.

Pakistan should be focusing is R&D resources to strategic systems (satellites, LACM, Ballistic Missiles and Long Range SAMs/ABM System) and those types of systems not readily available of the shelf solutions from allies like medium ranged quad packed SAMs. Using DK-10A or marlin (sout africa) as a starting point, or working with S Korea to develop a variation of K-SAAM.

I have read that NESCOM was working on an indigenous PDMS like RAM or FL-3000N. Frankly, unless it is going to give range similar to RAM-2 (20km), then it is probably better to get off the shelf like FL-3000N.

From the reporting of the turkish media the total cost of the Milgem contract is ~$1.2B implying that each ship is essentially ~$300M after PN goes for indigenous systems for weapons (and supposedly radars). This makes me think these will be equipped with 8 Harbah missiles and the NESCOM PDMS (which is likely based on FL-3000N).They could utilize the LY-80N AESA radar as its primary air tracking radar, though the Smart S Mk2 is used on Algeria's C-28As so it will likely be easy to marry to Chinese/Pakistani systems.

i think after the arrival of

4 x Type054 Ships from China
8 x Submarines from China
4x Milgem Ships from Turkey

General desire in Pakistan would be to focus on economy as NAVY would have received enough modernization, we need to refocus on our economy

Once these ships are in Pakistan hands we can say that yes the Navy has met it's modernization goal efforts

Fixing Pakistani Taxation System & Economy would be Top priority infact it is the most important item in most Pakistani people's mind for next 10 years

I think LY-80 uses PESA radar?

You forgot to add intentions of upgradation of F22Ps and another order of 6 type 54s ...
Plus coastal defence systems are also a new addition

Now this will be a navy to deal with ...

Im not talking about acquisitions, but r&d. That cannot stop brcause R&D spurs economics and military development and breeds indepence. That no different than stopping the nuke program because you have them... You need to continuously develop the tech. That will help spur jobs and new tech coming to market which will help the economy too. But other than that, i mostly agree.

STM Milgem based corvette for Brazilian tender!
