Bangladesh Air Force Thread(2010-2011)

who will BD fight with all the goodies?

it has only 2 neighbors - India and Myanmar, neither has anything to gain by a war against BD, infact relations between BD and India are improving day by day.

and Myanmar isnt in any shape to be fighting a war

Infact we want to be superpower like India. If India could become a superpower with others goodies then why not us... Money....

True. Money is what you need.

You still have some way to go, considering you are an LDC even in South Asia, needing support and concessions from other countries of the region like India, Pakistan and Srilanka (not sure if Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives also offer trade concessions!). ;)

India is not going to be a Superpower for decades. We first need to come in the top half of HDI index before we even think of it.

At this point, all we want is to be able to protect our interests and keep irrational ambitions of some in check.

Thats the catch, we will rob everybody and buy stuffs.. also sell stuffs for lower price.. the end goal be superpower.. Brains....

Shouldn't you be talking about economy than airforce???? What was your point here in this thread then??? Did you get any meaningful information on Bangladesh threat perception, strategy, vison, limitation etc. All that has been talked about here are wishful thinking. Is that is what you are for??
Hey, this is just my opinion!, the thing is your words are meaningless when it comes to reality.

Would like to see a bengal tiger.
My bet is bengladesh should not buy old mig-29s they wont be having any space for upgrades in future coz its already a mature aircraft better to invest in something new.

P.S=Im desperatly waitin for JFT BLK-II... A machine bred for the art of arse kickery.

I don't think that BD needs any such 4th generation fighters as being discussed. Bd govt. has laid a priority to revitalize the economy and setting the house in order by making sure that the true spirit of BD constitution ,as was visualized pre 1975, is implemented. BD is making great progress in upholding the human rights of minorities and the secular nature of the country as was envisaged by it's founding father Mr. M. Rehman.

And all the powerful nations need to be part of the development. So India's
$1 billion credit is as much a welcome as are trade concessions by China, Europe or US. BD need not behave like Pakistan in letting itself be misused by any country against any other. It should follow an independent foreign policy so that all other countries while helping it develop, may not use it for fomenting terrorism against any other country. Otherwise BD's fate would be much like present day Pakistan, with the elite making hay and the poor getting entrapped in poverty and radical politics.

The current fleet of BDAF is sufficient if one looks at the dangers. The worst could be a limited war with Myanmar. But then the US is against the current Myanmar regime and will certainly come to BD's rescue so as to use the opportunity to force a change of regime in Myanmar and make democracy prevail there as also end any hope of Myanmar generals to proliferate nuclear material from N. Korea. Moreover both India and China would not like to lose their heavy strategic investments in BD and will force a ceasefire if not directly come to BD's rescue.

Besides the Mig-29 are sufficient and if additional fighters are needed then Mig-21 bisons could be considered as they are perfect value for money and will aptly take the role of interceptors. The 4 generation fighters will be a lost investment as even their maintenance is quite costly leave aside the cost of procuring them.

A great evaluation!

Yeah anyone buying mig21 nowadays would be idiot and RUssia has closed production of Mig21 long ago and you can see how reliable mig21's are by checking the crash rate of Indian Mig21's.Regardless Pakistanis Members stop acting like a JF17 sales man here.We dont need to sell it.We needed a project for our air force and we've got it.It will be inducted just fine without any exports.Bangladesh can have whatever it wants.
