TBH, I see more potential in breaking up and creation of quite a few middle East nation's (highly probable) rather than hoping for breaking up of states like California etc.

California will break away. It will take a decade more to build up but there is a huge amount of dissent in California. They feel alienated and their culture and values don't match the rest of America. At this point its only a matter of time.
