Mahira shares thoughts on if she'd be biggest Bollywood star if it wasn’t for border divide

Mahira Khan is arguably Pakistan’s biggest celebrity transcending borders with a global fan base.

Last year, the actor made her Bollywood debut alongside India’s biggest star Shah Rukh Khan in Rahul Dholakia’s Raees and she's making history as L’Oréal’s first Pakistani ambassador.

But Mahira, herself, doesn’t think she would’ve been the biggest Bollywood star if it wasn’t for the India-Pakistan divide.

“Truly, I don’t,” she responded when asked if she thinks she would’ve been the biggest star in the Indian film industry if it wasn’t for tensions between the two countries which have led to a ban on Pakistani talent in Bollywood.

“Not that I would’ve been the biggest star,” she added.

“May be I would’ve done another film with Shah Rukh,” Mahira laughed. The actor was in conversation at the opening gala dinner of UK Asian Film Awards 2018 at the Mayfair Hotel in London.

She said her next dream is to make movies and “give happiness a chance.”

The opening gala honoured female heroes that have challenged stereotypes, broken barriers and pushed boundaries to make a difference. Recipients included British actress Amy Jackson, veteran British television, theatre and film actress and activist Jamila Massey, author and campaigner Rahila Gupta, and legendary actress and talk show hostess Simi Garewal.

Mahira was also awarded for her contribution to ‘Film and Activism’.

The superstar’s latest Pakistani film Verna will take centre stage at the film festival and will be screened on March 16.

Earlier, Mahira shared a few snaps of herself on her Instagram page where she was seen heading for a few press interactions. In the photo, the talented looked beautiful in a red-blue striped pyjama suit with a black overcoat.

And after ranbir episode she lost a lot of fan following and general public sentiment towards her has changed negative ,since then her PR went into agressive mode and they get her news published (paid and unpaid both) to keep her "IN" in the showbiz.

Also one may ask when there are better actresses why her name is sent to foreign festivals and events. There is a proper lobby that works to push her forward. And post Ranbir saga - btw it was Ranbir who had leaked her pictures he had gotten the two of them photographed and months later leaked them- those investment house one is Dawn news group and other is Bilal lashari in whose films she will appear this year , those production houses dont want their films to be affected by mahira pics controversy so a regular piece every two days apart is published in newspaper for her.

As of Verna i really hope that piece of shyt movie whose even sound dubbing was out of synch and had the unimagineably embarassing storyline doesnt release abroad, it will only earn pakistanis embarrassment.


In Verna her character gets kidnapped by an influential politicians son from one of the parks in isloo if i recall it correctly, then after raping her for three days he throws her back at home. She needs a proof to prove she wasraped. Her husband was shown a polio effected person and they had shown he was a weak person giving a v derogatory message that polio effected people are weak individuals to due physical shortcomings.

So after suffering major rape trauma she meets her lawyer and right 12 days after rape her lawyer and mahira make a plan where she is going to go and willingly sleep with her rapist to collect rape kit and present it in the court as rape proof......!??? Like getting raped a joke and right after 12 days a raped woman cpuld think of a nightmare of going back to her rapist?shoaib was criticizied for insentively approaching rape issue as if it doesnt effect a woman

Then the line that takes the cake is when her lawyer tells mahiras husband about going back and sleeping with her rapist ,that dont think ur wife was abducted for three days, just think she was abducted and raped for four days and include this fourth day into it........?


As of pak india border divide i would have refused to answer such horrendous question as to me my countrys existence is more important than any shytty movies and crap. And mahira makes great income in pakistan already.

But what can we expect from these who could try to sell the country n dignity for few bucks just like this guy

And u are right iska har interview aik sharmindagi hota hai. Even her interview with hamza abbasi on hsu in 2017 was a terrible. Even hsy was confused tha pata nahi kya bol rahi thee. She is just another meera aunty. On top of that her head movememts ,body language. even watch this video after she makes her non funny shoulder massage joke then suddenly she starts looking up towards roof with tilted head thinking of what to answer.
