Will the JF-17 carry towed Decoys?

Leonardo hopes customers looking to add decoys to aircraft will buy the system instead of a towed decoy, “which is a huge integration issue,” according to Jon McCullagh, head of combat air sales for electronic warfare at the Leonardo Airborne and Space Systems. Division

The firm is also talking to Eurofighter about the BriteCloud complementing the towed decoy already used on the aircraft, said McCullagh, because it can put more distance between itself and the aircraft than the towed version, drawing missiles further away.

If towed decoy takes up a hard point, then survival increases but capacity of munition and mission capability decreases.

The Towed Decoy could be fitting into a special pylon on the wing tips, as on the Gripen, and still leave room for a missile

It could also be built into the bottom of a jamming pod, so the pod deploys the towed Jammer when most appropriate, and reducing the among of integration work , as the Jammer will be a podded solution.

If the PAF is willing to do the integration work; it could fit the jammer on either side of the rear fuselage, similar to the F-35's decoy bay open on the right side in this picture
