Why young army officers in Uri camp are fuming

Religion is the uniting force in this. When a region is occupied and the natives are forced to assimilate by any means necessary, people will turn to their identity. Be it race, culture or religion. Religion is not the cause, but a symptom of the problem.
Only that has forced the Shias to Kargil. Celebrating Muharram is not allowed in Srinagar. No such restriction applies anywhere else in India!. Not to mention the Pandits and Sikhs. And, oh yes, the Sufi shrines have all been blown up, except Hazratbal which is on the Dal in Srinagar itself, hence well protected by the forces. :)

I doubt that whatsap message is from young army officer, I will take this piece of news with a fist full of salt.

Those soldiers were killed by their country's illegal quest for occupying Muslim lands. Until that mindset is addressed and Kashmiri people are given their rights to self determination, more like them will follow. This is just the nature of being an occupation force.
land also has religion now

Err, even that is wrong. Not all Srinagar hates the Army. Not all Poonch loves the Army. You get what I am saying. Some people here talk on the lines of 'all Kashmiris are traitors'. Something a normal jawan might agree with because he doesn't care why there is so much hatred. He just thinks that everyone is a potential attacker. A simplistic view but also one that tells that the goals of army there are not percolating to the men on ground. The army, by many accounts, postured as a tough force in the past, with all-out use of force sometimes. The idea is similar to intimidation that medieval armies used(Set an example by harsh punishment to avoid more challenge to authority). Some units might have gone rogue or simply took forward this philosophy, but what they did(rapes in some cases) alienated even the remaining population which was neutral or sympathizing with India. Believe me, there are still some secular-minded people left in the valley. You can find some refreshing columns in Kashmiri English newspapers online once-in-a-while. You can see that the IA did not take such incidents seriously just by looking at the number of personnel held responsible so far.

And... what happened to the Pandits does not justify the overlooking IA did, knowingly or by negligence.

The media has been pro-news and also quite forward looking in their approach. They also sold only what sells. And for an average patriotic Indian, IA in the white sells. And the Pakistani terrorist story sells. Very few reports were verified or covered all views(in the absence of verification). And the few incidents which stand as reasons for the general hatred for IA came out after some sustained and brave reporting by a very small number of journalists. And rarely a major media outlet gave a Kashmiri viewpoint in passing. I am not saying media conspired against the Kashmiris. It was an act of omission and taking the easy way out.

Ahh, felt really nice reading that. :) But then I opened my eyes. :(

Fake message blames Army for Uri attacks

A week after the Army told field commanders not to pay attention to adverse social media campaigns, a spurious WhatsApp message has insinuated that Armymen’s hesitancy led to Friday’s militant attacks in Kashmir.

Lt Gen D S Hooda, Northern Army Commander, had about a week ago sent instructions for soldiers in conflict zones not to “fall prey” to hurtful reports amid an uproar over last month’s incident, where Armymen killed two youths in Budgam after purportedly mistaking them for terrorists.

The WhatsApp message, circulating for the last few days, claims that Pakistan-backed militants entered the Army camp in Uri with relative ease as the sentry did not open fire on remembering the Budgam incident.

It also said terrorists entered the Army camp in a vehicle; they actually cut wires of the fence from the direction of the Jhelum river to gain entry.

“The WhatsApp message is wrong. It appears disgruntled elements are putting out canards in social media. The inputs about soldiers being hesitant or under orders to be defensive are incorrect and have no merit,” an Army officer said.

The recent killing of the two youths, who did not stop at two check posts and were fired upon at the third, drew strong reactions in the public and media, compelling Lt Gen Hooda to publicly apologise in order to bring down the people’s anger in the valley.

“Mistakes will happen. Let me assure you that I have a clear understanding of the difficulties under which we operate and that nobody will be unfairly harmed. This clear message must go out to all units,” he said in a letter to the officers under the northern command.

Holy **** look at you guys advocating ignoring human rights for your ego.

I am shocked that you guys are treating Kashmir as if it's some trophy and we gotta repel terrorists at the cost of innocent Kashmiri lives.

The military should be accountable to its people, including the Kashmiris. This is the difference b/w Pakistani and Indian armies. Their ultimate motive should be to protect civilian life, not show their finger to Pakistan and stroke your egos.

The army should obviously be careful to not trample on civilian lives, if it can't do it, India should give up Kashmir. I want my country to be a liberator, not an oppressor.

Well i know better how much hindus are civilized and there are no rape like things in Baluchistan. And insurgency in Baluchistan is not as your media tells and you discuss on internet,Bloch are really tough peoples if it will have been like you peoples think there would have been no Pakistan. Live in dreams every time when something wrong goes in India point on Pakistan and after, that sleep until next time it happens again.
if not raped, they why PAK military prevented Dr to leave PAK ? you should go and learn about it, then why PAK used Fighter jets/ helicopter to bomb blooch?

are you living in jail or stone age where you don't have access of real world news?

India point along with strong evidence , and also international govt. independent verify that..

You're just pointing out one of the effects of the radicalisation which would inevitably come in the face of occupation.

It's better to kill than to get killed......
If those officers/soldiers think that their commanders/superiors are playing with their lives, then they should kill them to make their point.....
If those commanders think that they are just following orders of their superiors, then they should kill those superiors in order to avoid getting killed by their subordinates....and so on.....
