And yes, of course China is different. Why would that be hard to believe?
China is practically the only major country that has never been colonized or ruled by the western imperilist power and hence not influenced by the west en masse. Chinese in the hundred of millions, even in mid twentieth century, have never even seen a white, Indian or African person in their entire life. We have very limited direct contact with outsider, that only changed in about 30 years ago.
China is a unique civilization state that was established since bronze age with very limited interaction with the rest of the world, because of her geographical isolation. She has evolved with her own unique social and political system for over 2 thousand years.
Yes, we are different.
We have the right to pursue our happiness in our different way. I believe no force on earth would be able to stop us.
And about all those negative news that you posted, all I would say is this, if you really want to believe all those reports, I guess you would then believe Chinese lived in virtual hell.
But for a Chinese that actually grow up in China for all his/her life, and can also interact/communicate with everyone around living in China, that would be hard to believe.
