What's new

When did South China Sea become China's "core interest"?

They say they won't fight, but their actions say they will. As much as I dislike Vietnam, they have never been one to back down from a fight. They're purchasing weapons from Russia (Subs, frigates and planes) like no tomorrow. On top of that they're trying to form alliance with Japan, India, ASEAN and United States to strengthen their position.

IQ is proportional to the education you receive. Plenty of genius here of Indian and American origins. That statement about low IQ is false and you know it.
What would you suppose to to if you are being bullied by a giant? Say: come here any have more bully?

Vietnam is a small country while China is a power. A small country should try to live peaceful with the giants. This is the right logic. Unfortunately, those stupid Vietnamese nationalists are pushing their Gov to a very hard position as to risk the future of the country.

Whatever you say. I am saying the truth while you are having your wet dream.

Confusion. The Japanese Empire invaded China in the 1930s and it was Japan that started the war.while in this case, it is Vietnam that keeps provoking China.

China violated 80 sea miles behind Vietnamese EEZ line and cut the cable from sovereign ship in sovereign area, Vietnam just opposed and then accuse Vietnam for "keeps provoking China"?
You invaded Vietnamese islands and then accuse Vietnamese for "illegal occupying"?
I really really love your POVs, they are all great

Hey, we're trying hard now, but that doean't mean you can Violate our EEZ, our Gov. belong to people, they're not Evil King like China gov., if they let you violate EEZ freely, we will find new leader, who can kick CHina out of VN EEZ !

Well, the end result was, we fought them out and killed 1 million Japanese soldiers. The result for you of course was not being able to kill a single British in revenge and going with a begging bowl to the whites to beg them to set your country free. Not insulting you or India, just stating facts.

Yes of course, you must submit yourself to the great civilized high-technology Han Chinese. Otherwise, it is our heavenly mandate to crush barbarian tribes like Vietnam.

They don't need to find but still can drive British out of their country, so their diplomacy is very very incredible. Both Vietnam and China should learn it from India.

When Baiyue people invented rice-farming and script, Han Chinese was still hording somewhere in the north.
You call Han Chinese as "great civilized high-technology" and call Vietnamese as "barbarian tribes".
So in conclusion, we realize that barbarian tribes invented rice-farming and script before great civilized high-technology. Great discovery :azn:
Always love your points

If the tension on this sea intensifies, the world will witness global realignment into Allied and Axis powers as a prelude to First World Naval War. Presently, all nine states that touch the South China Sea are more or less arrayed against China and, therefore, dependent on the United States for diplomatic and military support. These conflicting claims are likely to become even more acute as Asia's spiraling energy demands -- energy consumption is expected to double by 2030, with China accounting for half that growth -- make the South China Sea the ever more central guarantor of the region's economic strength. Already, the South China Sea has increasingly become an armed camp, as the claimants build up and modernize their navies, even as the scramble for islands and reefs in recent decades is mostly over.

War or no war, will this realignment translate into another bi-polar world like the one which came into being post-WWII? Professor Samuel Huntington, in his famous book, Clash of Civilizations...., predicted a war between China and Vietnam sometimes close to 2010 over the maritime resources of this sea. In view of Huntington, this would be a war within a civilization; but the later evidence suggests that South China Sea will be a hotbed of a much broader international conflict. Analysts have their fingers crossed but given the economic growth and fast industrialization of China, the world is already on the road to its cherished dream of bipolarity.
