War on terror Cost Pakistan $68 Billion

This thread isn't about Shiv Sena, this is about the losses Pakistan has had to incur since fighting the US's WOT since 2001. Please don't divert the topic. Thanks.

On topic. The more we invest in War on Terror, the more it will effect us. Economically and financially. Hence we must negotiate will all concerned groups (TTP, CIA and all). -Said by Aeronaut.

What do you guys think? Is it possible?

5036 Billion rupees= 5.036 Trillion Rupees, naaki 50.37 Trillion. :cheesy:

5.036 Trillion Rupees is roughly about 60 Billion Dollars. (estimate by Pakistan, based on many ifs and buts). And to blame the US amd the WOT for missed business opportunities, am sorry but I fail to see the logic behind that. Given that Pakistan's economy was still growing at a pretty good pace around 2002-2006 mark, Musharraf Era that is.

Total Aid given to Pakistan, by USA since 2002: 21 Billion Dollars. (excluding the weapons that the US has given to Pakistan)

You guys can draw the conclusion yourself.

Yes, the travel ban and FDI is causing losses to Pakistan's economy. You fail to undestand because your prejudice against Pakistan makes your brain malfucntion. If you still do not understand, your opinion really does count.

Pakistan wasn't doing all too well before 2001. It was only after WOT started your economy picked up under Musharaff ( I am not sure about credibility though).

Same can be said about india. In fact india almost went bankrupt or became bankrupt in the 90's

Before 1990's. Thats because we were closed economy. Pakistan was not. Pakistan opened even before us and more so than us. India never went down after that but Pakistan economy did well only when US was in the region. Otherwise you guys were struggling.

Pakistan has always done better then india economically until the past 10 or so years. The 60's was a golden era for Pakistan, South Korea even studied Pakistan's economic model.

And then people think Pakistan needs US 'aid' to survive (Kerry Lugar bill), when Pakistan has been operating in billions of $ losses every year for fighting the US's war on terror.
Brother, we cannot determine the entire economic cycle on the basis of WOT based data.

Aid ki zaroorat parhi, tu liya na? Think about this. Around 20 billion USD aid is not a joke in a decade.

Revenue generation of Pakistan should also be taken in to consideration.

Currently, Pakistan is economically strained and people can already see its impact: double digit inflation, poor salaries, purchasing power of people reducing etc....

In short, the cost of living in Pakistan is exponentially increasing with passage of time.

You're right Pakistan is a failure and only super power of the word india has shown economic success. Pakistan has always received American aid (even if it was under severe sanctions :disagree:) and in the 60's ( long before the whole soviet afghan conflict)

In all seriousness please take your BS to bharat ratshit were it will be welcome.
History of US aid to Pakistan: http://www.ips.org.pk/*************...cy/1080-us-aid-to-pakistan-and-democracy.html

Pakistan has continuously recieved aid from US since 1947. In times of strained relationship with US, military aid has been stopped. However, other kinds of aid continued....

Pakistan has incurred losses of $68 billion because of this WOT. How much has the US given Pakistan since 1947? Is it more than $68 billion, or even close to it?

Total aid from US is around USD 30 billion mark (1947 - 2011), as per sources I have access to. US is the largest donor to Pakistan. In addition, Pakistan receives aid from several other nations.

Cost of being a frontline state: $68b – The Express Tribune

ISLAMABAD:

While pressure to launch an operation in North Waziristan mounts, the latest economic survey reveals that Pakistan has already suffered almost $68 billion (Rs5.1 trillion) in losses – equivalent to almost half of the country’s total debt – on account of being a frontline state in the war on terror.

The damage to the social fabric of society in addition to that, is unquantifiable.

In financial year 2010-11, Pakistan lost $17.83 billion (Rs1.528 trillion), roughly equivalent to this year’s tax target, reveals the Economic Survey of Pakistan.

The 2010-11 losses are the highest in any given year since Pakistan became the frontline state in global war against terrorism.

These losses do not include the damages on account of a recent attack on Pakistan Navy base in Karachi, destroying two surveillances aircraft, the P3C-Orion.

The figures have been compiled by an inter-ministerial committee of the ministries of foreign affairs, finance, interior, commerce and representatives of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces – the worst-hit federating units.

“Since 2006, the war has spread like a contagion into settled areas of Pakistan that has so far cost the country more than 35,000 citizens, 3,500 security personnel, destruction of infrastructure, internal migration, nose-diving of production and growing unemployment,” notes the survey.

It adds: “the war not only caused serious damage to economy but also to the social fabric of Pakistan.”

Inadequate compensation

In contrast to $67.9 billion in losses both direct and indirect, the United States has so far given $13 billion in aid to Pakistan, of which almost $9 billion are military disbursements and $4 billion in net civilian aid.

The total amount is lesser than what Pakistan suffered in losses in fiscal year 2010-11 alone.

“In the current financial year, the US has disbursed $745 million of Coalition Support Fund (CSF) and the government is expecting another tranche before end of June,” said Secretary Finance Dr Waqar Masood.

The government expects to receive $1.45 billion this year on account of CSF – money that it has already spent while rendering military services and is now seeking reimbursements for.

we really need to get out of the war and focus on our economy,

Yeah shift Pakistan to some other place!!!!!

Plz how you are planning to get of a war that is fought in Pakistan?????
