national television, Thursday, June 13. This
pretty 25-year old police woman shared
her side of a story of being abused by
Mojokerto City Police Chief, Adj. Senior
Comm. Eko Puji Nugroho.
Head of Public Information Sub Division,
East Java Regional Police, Adj. Sen. Comm.
Suhartoyo said as a police officer, Rani
should not blow up her case and form a
negative opinion on media. "This is an internal
issue. She is supposed to present her
evidence and report the misconduct of the
Chief to the Profession and Security
Division (Propam)," said Suhartoyo, Friday,
June 14.
Propam has proactively requested Rani to
clarify the rumor although she never filed a
report. They have interviewed the City
Police Chief as well. "Rani still didnt show
up," Suhartoyo continued, adding that he
talked to Eko personally regarding the
accusation. Eko denied it. "It is not true. I
was stupid if I ever did that," said
Suhartoyo quoting the Chief.
In her appearance on TV, Rani said Eko
often asked her to accompany his guests
to karaoke places, and was once touching
her during measuring her uniform. Rani felt
uncomfortable and fled to Jakarta
deserting her duty for over three months.
Interviewed separately, Eko gave no
comment. The former Chief of Drug
Enforcement Bureau, Surabaya City Police
said Propam is handling the case. "I was the
defendant, let the Regional Police give their
explanation," he ended.
