Northern Areas were the only place where tourists from round the globe were coming for mountaineering and sightseeing owing to chaos in the rest of the country , now thats gonna stop as well ..

Considering the elevation and lack of easy escape routes it looks like a very well worked plan and as per initial reports nothing has been stolen thus ruling out chances of theft motivated crime.

Isolate Pakistan, that's the Islamist enemy's plan - the more isolated it is the easier it is to pick off, the easier it is to scare them into submission -- And the more they can attack innocent people, the more they make the case that there is no protection, and the govt cannot be relied upon for something as basic as safety and security, and then even society cannot be depended upon for basic decency and humanity.

Gunmen have killed 10 foreign tourists after storming a hotel in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, police say.

The attack is reported to have happened in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

It is not yet clear where the tourists are from although a police officer quoted by Reuters said he had received reports that several were Chinese.

Pakistan's Geo News quoted a local official as saying the area had been sealed off and police were hunting for the killers.

No group has said it carried out the attack.

"Unknown people entered a hotel where foreign tourists were staying last night and opened fire," Ali Sher, a senior police officer, told Reuters.

"They killed 10 foreign tourists and fled."

Correspondents say Gilgit-Baltistan, which borders China and Kashmir, has been considered one of the more secure areas under Pakistani control.

However, in recent years it has suffered a spate of attacks by militants targeting the Shia Muslim minority.

The area is famous for its natural beauty.
