Three more tests of India's ICBM in 12 months, induction by mid-2016

You should have read post #26 Three more tests of India's ICBM in 12 months, induction by mid-2016 | Page 2
where it clearly says that current version of Agni V is not the final version.
You fanboys are so naive, fiddling with numbers and calculations like its a "John has 37 oranges" problem.

Any improved iteration of the system is incorporated into the next one being designed. Reason being, the production facilities are set up according to some standards. You can't just wake up one day and try to roll out a "lighter" Agni-V. Any modification like that results in an entirely new variant of the system and needs to be tested again to ensure performance.

For example, some here say that A-3's weight has been somehow reduced. What purpose would a lighter missile of the same capability serve the SFC? Where are the validation trials?
Similarly, if anything is being changed for Agni-V, it will be implemented in Agni-VI.

Ms. Thomas said that while the two-stage Agni-III missile capable of hitting targets up to 3,000 km away weighed 50 tonnes, the team was able to bring down the weight of the missile to 22 tonnes.

“It saw several technological enhancements and we had to redesign the entire system, use maraging steel and composite motor rocket,” she said.

An iteration of Agni III design, just like the Agni V.

No someone here.It was Dr.Tessy Thomas

The range of Agni III improved from 3000 to 3500-5000 KM after weight reduction process

Precisely what I meant, that the systems themselves rarely have improved variants having modifications of that magnitude. If they do, it results in an entirely new system which undergoes tests and trials of its own.

Have you considered the possibility that she was misquoted?
You do realize what reducing mass of such a system by 56% means, right? Where are the validation tests and trials?

In all probability, she was misquoted by the ever-intelligent Indian media. She must be referring to first stage mass or mass of all propellants or something else.

Now lets move on to the next big ICBM project, shall we?

ICBM program is like drug addiction for any scientific research wings especially country like ours landlocked between crazies. Agni missile Five especially a gate way drug to king of high'ness ;) Agni 6 is very much coming with a bang my friends. Agni 5 itself most advanced and most respected and most feared missile systems by China. Latest report suggest Agni 5 is nearly par with Chinese latest ICBM. But it's more advanced than what they say to their people. It's unstoppable whether while launching or while approaching.

I find it funny that most people assume the range of Agni V is only 5000 km

If anyone had to compare the range of similar class of missiles from anywhere in the world they would have easily got the true range of Agni V :disagree:

1. Russia : Topol-M , Missile weight = 47 tons, Range = 11,000 KM , warhead 800 kt made in 1994.

2. Russia : RS24, Weight = 49 tons, Range = 12,000 KM, warhead 4 x 550 kt , made in 2007.

3. Russia: Bulava, Weight = 37 tons, Range = 10,000 KM, warhead 6 x 150 kt, made in 2005

4. USA / UK : Trident , weight = 33 tons, Range = 7400 KM, warhead 8 x 100 kt, made in 1977

5. France: M 45, weight = 35 tons, Range = 6000 KM, warhead 6 x 110 kt TNT, made in 1986

6. France: M51.1, weight = 52 Tons, Range = 10,000 + KM, warhead 6 to 10 x 100 kt , made in 2006

7. China JL2, weight = 42 tons, Range = 12,000 KM, warhead 3-6, made in 2001

8. China DF 31, weight = 42 tons, Range = 12,000 KM, warhead 3, made in 1999

9. India: Agni V, weight = 50 Tons, Range = 5,500 KM :cheesy: , warhead 1,500 kg, made in 2012 :

EVERY other missile of its class has a range of 10,000 KM :D and they were made 20 to 30 years back. Assuming the India is just catching up, even then Agni will have a range of 12,000 K M Easy.
Thanks for your info my friend. But range of missiles are not only accorded with thrust : weight ratio. It's more to do with amount of heat it can withstand in its heat shield. Now that's that where technical issues comes in. As material should be light but robust to decrease the dead weight of a missile and so amount of payload can be added
