The first batch of VT5 light tanks was delivered to Bangladesh. Its configuration is higher than our own light tanks.
According to the news from North Industries, the first batch of VT-5 light tanks ordered by Bangladesh has been shipped on April 23, marking the official opening of the domestic VT-5 light tanks.
The outside world believes that VT-5 light tanks are still in the international market. There will be greater gains.

According to overseas sources, Bangladesh ordered 44 VT-5 light tanks from China in 2019. These tanks will form a light tank regiment. In the future, the Bangladesh Army will also form two light tank regiments, which means that Bangladesh may purchase 150 VT-5 light tanks.

It can be clearly seen from the pictures released by the North Industries Corporation that the Bangladesh Army purchased the VT-5 light tank should be a high-end version. Some configurations are even higher than our own -15 light tanks. According to the relevant pictures, it can be clearly seen that the VT-5 light tank ordered by the Bangladesh Army is equipped with the captain’s comprehensive circumferential vision sight glass. This sight glass is equipped with an integrated thermal imaging night vision system to improve the captain’s battlefield situational awareness. . Judging from domestic and foreign experience, the captain is a tank tactical commander, responsible for battlefield search and target instruction. When necessary, the captain must surpass the gunner to control the artillery to shoot the target. Therefore, the captain should be equipped with better sighting devices to improve the car Long command decision-making ability.

According to the Bangladesh Army, the VT-5 light tank is the first tank in South Asia to be equipped with a commander’s integrated peripheral sight glass. Even though the most advanced T-90S main battle tank of the Indian Army did not install this advanced system, the commander relied on the image of the gunner’s integrated sight glass to command the operation and could not achieve the hunting-fighting capability. The Chinese 15-type light tank was originally equipped with this captain's comprehensive peripheral sight glass, but when it was installed, the equipment was cancelled to reduce costs and prices. There are also outside views. It seems to integrate this function into the remote control weapon. In the station, the thermal imaging system of the remote control weapon station is used to provide battlefield situational awareness and target detection to the commander.

The protection capability of the VT-5 light tank seems to have been upgraded, and the car body is equipped with FY-2 reactive armor. This type of reactive armor was developed earlier, and can only resist the hollow drug-piercing warhead, but it is lighter in weight. The reaction armor in front of the hull is obviously thickened, and it should be replaced with a more advanced FY-4 reaction armor. Compared with FY-2, FY-4 is heavier and thicker. It can resist not only armor-piercing shells but also armor-piercing shells. Prior to Pakistan’s introduction of the VT-4 main battle tank, it was equipped with FY-4 reactive armor. This time the VT-5 was also equipped with FY-4, indicating that the relevant authorities have issued an export license to FY-4.

After such improvements and upgrades of the VT-5 light tank, the overall combat capability has been significantly improved. Because the combat weight is lighter and the engine power is larger, it is more adaptable to the combat environment of the South Subtropical water network. The 105mm rifled gun adopts a new generation of China’s new-generation tail fins for stable shelling and armor-piercing shells, which can penetrate the body of the T-90S main battle tank. The rear wing is a stable shell attack. The advanced fire control system, night vision system and information command system make it even more powerful, and its comprehensive combat capability is further improved.

This just proved if you pay the right price you can get a higher end version of the original. At least for some platforms. Great news!!!

The tank in the pic is VT-4 for Pakistan.

Not doubting you about the first picture (which was posted in error), but the QQ story was about Bangladesh. No mention about Pakistan in that story. And the next pictures were also about VT5, not VT4, which is a much larger tank.

China's homegrown version of VT5 (Which is known as ZTQ-15, or type 15) was deployed against the Indians at Aksai Chin recently. Russian T-90 against type 15, it will be interesting to see what happens...

VT-5 is not the export version of ZTQ-15, and ZTQ-15 is not for export.

Two ZTQ-15 tanks with different configurations:

ZTQ-15 foucs on its high-altitude combat capability, while VT-5 is for the countries not on the plateau.

Huh - well I guess the Internet pundits can be wrong then...

Do tell us how they are different in detail. I thought the differences were (other than supercharging in the engines and minor hull/turret differences) pretty minor overall.

Bangladesh Army apparently received the first batch of VT-5 back on 23rd April.

The Bangladesh Army has taken delivery of the most advanced tank ever to be operated by any South Asian army.

Bangladesh’s variant of the VT-5 light tank is said to be even more advanced than those in service with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), which is equipped with the Type 15.

The first regiment of the VT-5 light tanks from NORINCO arrived in Bangladesh recently. As reported earlier it has become the launched customer of the newest Chinese tank. NORINCO shipped the tanks on 23 April 2020.

Veiled under strict security the acquisition of these new generation armoured platforms will significantly upgrade the war fighting capabilities of the Bangladesh Army. At least 150 VT-5 light tanks are touted to be purchased by Bangladesh’s Army according to Chinese sources. The VT-5 light tank is equipped with a full hunter-killer capability.

Only a very few armies in the world possess this kind of technology in the world and none in South Asia except Bangladesh. The tank features the latest FY-4 armour. This new ERA (Explosive Reactive Armour) provides protection against Tandem Warhead ammunition rendering enemy ATGMs useless. Coupled with an Active Protection System (APS) the VT-5 is the most advanced cavalry weapon of its kind.

It is also equipped with a Remote-Controlled Weapons System (RCWS) that is armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun and co-axial automatic grenade launcher (QLZ-04). This is the first time any Bangladesh Army tank features this capability as well. The Bangladesh Army has confirmed to Defseca.com that the VT-5 light tank is also equipped with a laser range finder, auto-target tracking system and re suppression system.

It is fully stabilised and capable of ring on the move. The tank is equipped with NRBC protection, an automatic loading mechanism with ammunition stored in the turret bustle, air conditioning system, command-and control equipment, commander’s panoramic sights, gunner’s thermal imaging sight, laser range finder, advanced ballistic computer, a tactical command system and a navigation system that includes INS (Inertial Navigation System) and satellite communications.

The VT-5’s 105mm rifled gun barrel can re anti-tank guided missiles which can increase its attack reach to 5 km. It holds a total of 38 105mm rounds and is compatible with NATO standard tank ammunition. When launching 105 mm armour-piercing projectiles, VT-5 is capable to effectively penetrate main battle tanks equipped by various countries and regions in southern and southwestern Asia including the T-90S. It can re new advanced tungsten-alloy APFSDS capable of penetrating 500mm of armoured steel at 2km. This new tank can be airlifted by military cargo aircraft as well as be para-dropped.

The VT-5 defeated the Turkish-Indonesian Kaplan light tank and the Hanwha Defense K21-105 from South Korea to win the contract in November 2019.

VT-5 tanks of BA tank will be Hunter-Killer capable. Keep in mind Durjoy tanks too were upgraded to have hunter-killer capability.

So it seems Army is buying & upgrading tanks with certain potential adversaries in mind.
Tbh Bangladesh’s strategy of a hi-lo balance in the force will benefit us the most. This tank is a game changer... they‘lol replace the type 69 (which should be relegated to training purposes now) and more of these tanks to come soon. The durjoy upgrade is another good thing bd did... now it can maintain the numbers and the quality.
2 regiments of Mbt 2000 will be ordered as you heard already... and 1 regiment of a western/ NATO MBT

Different class, I hope the Chinese tankers are better trained than the Indians... then they would make a short work out of those t90s... they need to use their speed against those t90s... frontal engagement will most probably be an attempt in vain... so flank attacks and hope you could cook off the ammoloader

So I reckon this comes with a supercharged engine?

Oh alright. So now I hope those tungsten shells are being planned for local manufacturing. I reckon the machineries and raw material... can be sourced from China itself

I’m surprised as to why we haven’t received pictures yet... MBT 2000 pics were circulating when they were being unloaded in Chittagong port

Pandemic coupled with BA trying to keep things under wraps.

I'm now more frustrated with BAF then ever, seeing as BA, BN and BGB are allover the place with their procurements.
