What's new

Tejas induction only by mid-2014

The aircraft is ready son, I dont think you have had the pleasure of reading the article. Isnt it written there that its delayed due to IAF's changing demands or dissatisfaction, ? Now do you really mean to say IAF would be happy with anything and everything, that it took almost 6 years to evaluate worlds best fighter jets in MMRCA. So the developments must happen until the IAF is confident of making it compliment the future additions Like PAK-FA , MMRCA etc etc.

Aircraft is fine son, the policy is a blunder. In a nation either the defense forces must give a complete idea so that the new to experience defense industries have a complete idea of what to make and plan it according till the last, or the defense industry must be well experienced and flourishing as to meet any growing demands of the customer. Here in India unfortunately the buyer and the seller are in the same level.. So the only thing which stands out is the so called "Technical Issues".

Trust me, everything is termed Technical until one fine day they crack it.
IAF's dis satisfaction is due to the fact LCA dont meet even the 3rd world country reqirement. To be precise even if IAF buys it ,it will be simply sitting idle in hanger like hanger queen.

2015!!!!! forget it!! the way your so called super dooper scientists of DOD are to be taken on face value it wont even come by 2115.if you give your scientist even to make a cycle they wont be able to make it in 100 yrs.
Hey newbie! Stop posting crap here. Grow up!

You speak as if you are from the first world. My dear we all get served in the same Classified plates named 3rd worlds. Anyways part of your lines are acceptable, LCA would have nothing at all to do when everything could be done by Su-30's MMRCA's and Pak FA's.

It's sad that the pilot, Sqn Ldr Md Hussain was killed because his parachute malfunctioned. And that's a tragedy. The Chinese can't even get their darn parachutes to open and they talk of manufacturing stealth aircraft! Jeeez!

The Martin-Baker seats on JF-17's and are the same brand as those being used on the JSF, EFT,and Rafale......

1,000 aircraft lost by IAF in crashes since 70s

Aug 04, 2011

NEW DELHI (PTI): In the last 40 years, the Indian Air Force has lost 1000 aircraft in accidents of which 39 per cent were caused by pilot error.

A Parliamentary Committee report on Wednesday said that, the IAF has lost 999 aircraft since the 1970s and human error and technical defects were the main cause behind these crashes.

One MiG 27 had crashed in Biakaner yesterday in which the pilot was killed.

"In 39.5 per cent of the cases, technical defect is the cause and in 39 per cent of the cases, human error was found to be responsible," the report said.

The Committee was informed by the IAF that of these 999 accidents, 12 cases were being investigated by the service.

Servicing error caused 1.6 per cent of the accidents wheras nine per cent of the crashes were caused by bird hit and the remaining were because of the errors by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Most of the accidents have involved the MiG series aircraft which are on their way out of service and are planned to be phased out in next four to five years.
