Taiwanese protest against Japan's rising militarism

Hundreds of Taiwanese gathered on Friday in Taipei to commemorate the 69th anniversary of Japanese surrender in the World War II, urging the Japanese government to give up its militaristic ambitions.

The one-hour rally which was staged by Taiwan's pro-unification groups, and activists defending the Diaoyu Islands, kicked off at 10 a.m. in front of the Taipei Office of Japan's Interchange Association, which represents the Japan's interests on the island.

Protesters chanted slogans urging Japan to apologize for its atrocities in the war. They also paid silent tribute, with white head bands, and bouquets of white lily and chrysanthemum, to the civilians killed during Japan's aggression.

Wu Jung-yuan, organizer of the rally and organizer of the "Cross-Strait Peace and Development Forum," said the rise of militarism in Japan has gained momentum this year as Shinzo Abe's administration attempted to abandon Japan's war-renouncing constitution and provoke territorial disputes with neighboring countries.

"On this day, 69 years ago, Emperor Hirohito announced Japan's unconditional surrender, which also marked the end of the misery the war inflicted on his own people," said Wu. "So we gather on this day also to remind the Japanese people to learn from the history, and ward off the militarist tendencies."

On Thursday, women's groups in Taiwan also demanded apologies and compensation from Japan for forcing many Taiwanese women -- known as "comfort women" -- into providing sexual services for Japanese military personnel during the war.

There was a time when Taiwan was part of Japan. For 50 years Taiwan (Taihoku) was a Japanese territory. And Taiwan people were considered Japanese.

So , naturally, we are eternally linked with Taiwan. And most Japanese have very strong, positive opinion of Taiwan and Taiwan people.

Japan Loves ALL CHINA Land,i know,Has not changed, not only Taiwan diaoyudao
 , Japanese sure do otherwise they wouldn't have tried to conquer China.

During the time Taiwan was part of Japan, there was a massive immigration of Japanese people into Taiwan land. They intermingled with native Aborigine, and native Han people. Even in the early days , the Imperial Japanese Army had Taiwanese officers, and Taiwanese soldiers in its ranks. You know this, right? Taiwanese people were very active in Imperial Government as well.

Oh, You flatter yourself,
The Japanese occupation, aggression. Do not think that is your land.
Not just Taiwan, before there are other land invaded by Japan, don't say thoseland belong toJapan?
It is a province of China, it call Taiwan Province before theJapanese invasion
In 1945, Japan's defeat in World War II, the japanese government has delivered unconditionally.
Taiwan no longer has any relationship with you.Chinese government did not repatriate the Japanese in Taiwan, gave Japan a great kindness, but the Japanese are ungrateful, sabotage everywhere in Taiwan If Japan bitchy, please use guns to talk with China :dirol:

:D no wonder you treat Taiwan as Japan's vassal state to this day and convinced Japan would come to its rescue if Mainland decides to take the island back by force if necessary.

First of all, Japan really developed Taiwan. From our investment in agricultural advancements, fishing, the railway system, the ports, the housing, education, health. In 1905, Japan conducted a census of Taihoku and the population was at 3 million. By 1940, the population of Taiwan (Taihoku) was 5.9 million. By 1946 it was at 6.2 million. During the years from 1895 to 1945, there was a massive Japanese colonization of Taiwan. Many of the Taiwan people of Japanese decent never returned to Japan after the end of the war. They all stayed in Taiwan.

Many of the Taiwanese now in Taiwan have Japanese blood. This is why I said that Japan is Eternally Linked with Taiwan. And Taiwan is precious to us. Japan paved the way and industrialized Taiwan, and provided the infrastructure for it to become one of the Asian Tigers.

Japanese people really do think very highly of Taiwan and Taiwan people.

We don't live in the age of classics, friend.

Taiwan is not a vassal state, Taiwan is a partner, and a friendly nation. I only stated the reasons why Japan Government and Japanese people have very strong ties and opinion of Taiwan and Taiwan people. Blood is thick.

Japanese colonial period, laid the industry foundation for Taiwan, I admit, but this is not the biggest reason for Taiwan's economic take-off. Taiwan after World War II , everywhere Cang bruise, more than half of the plants were destroyed, productivity has been severely damaged.
Do not forget the KMT to Taiwan brought a lot of talent, then almost all the Chinese scholars have followed the KMT came to Taiwan, who has become the biggest driving force behind Taiwan's economic development. In addition to Taiwan, the KMT brought the money, equivalent to the current $ 10.55 billion in gold, silver, foreign exchange,
and just over six million people in Taiwan.
In addition, the KMT land reform in Taiwan, Taiwan has become the basis for the modernization of agriculture and industrial development.
Secondly, foreign aid, the United States and other kinds of assistance to Taiwan.
Again, the location of Taiwan itself. .

In addition, stay in Taiwan three hundred thousand Japanese have not been repatriated, was the Chinese government's mercy. Today, some people of Japanese descent in Taiwan, is also relatively small, in the general population.
Do not take this as a reason for you to interfere in Taiwan. 97% are Han Chinese in Taiwan
