Strong earthquake strikes China's southwestern Sichuan province

The 30 second warning time is too short. I hope that China, Japan and other countries can cooperate in the field of earthquake warning. And donate the research results to the United Nations for promotion. This will save many innocent lives.
Ideally it should be forecasted at least one day before.

About time China build special earthquake-resistance houses in Sichuan then.
It's a mountain region and it's the landslides that do the most damage, houses are no match for landslides no matter how strong they are

There is no BLM or Antifa in China. So there are no looting and rioting.

In US, those "very discriminated" will be orgasm and start their ransack orgy.

Casualties just double.
At 12:52 on September 5, an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan, with a focal depth of 16 kilometers. According to the CCTV news client, as of 7:00 on September 6, Ganzi Prefecture reported that 37 people were killed, 12 people lost contact, and 170 wounded people have been treated, including 56 seriously injured. Ya'an Shimian County received reports that 28 people were killed and 78 people were injured. All the injured people have been sent to the hospital for treatment. Among them, 5 people were critically injured, 12 people were seriously injured, and 61 people were slightly injured.

So far, the earthquake has killed 65 people.

In the earthquake-stricken area of Luding, Sichuan, 501 hidden danger points of geological disasters have been investigated, and 11,252 people at risk have been transferred.
This is grim.

Thoughts go out to our Chinese brothers and sisters. China has a very robust response mechanism, she will recover from this.

But nothing can assuage the loss of lives. Sadly nature is reminding humanity of its place in the grand scheme of things.

This is a mountainous region which sitting right on a major fault line, this region get magnitude 6.0 or over earthquake strikes almost every a couple of years, and becuase it's deep in the mountains, all those quakes will trigger massive landslides, secondary disasters alway kill more than the quake themselves.

Rescue efforts underway after M6.8 quake jolts Sichuan Province

Death toll rises as China uses satellites to evacuate people after deadly earthquake

Rescue mission continues amid rain forecast, with 74 killed, over 2 dozen missing

Riyaz ul Khaliq |07.09.2022

China put into use at least 10 satellites to evacuate people following the deadly earthquake on Monday.

Officials in southwestern Sichuan province of China also revealed that the death toll climbed to 74 in the deadliest earthquake in the region since 2017.

Authorities are intensifying rescue operations amid a forecast of showers in the region on Wednesday.

The country also used around 10 satellites from its Gaofen series to help with relief work by capturing photos of the quake-hit areas 10 minutes after the earthquake.

According to China Earthquake Networks Center, the quake hit Luding county in the Garze Tibetan Autonomous region at a depth of 16 kilometers (9 miles) on Monday.

Minor aftershocks are still rattling many areas around Luding county.

Chinese public broadcaster CGTN reported at least 26 people were still missing while 259 people were injured and are being treated.

More than 50,000 people were relocated to safer places.

The Chinese authorities mobilized thousands of rescuers, including several columns of the People’s Liberation Army, for rescue and relief operations.

They used helicopters and boats to rescue people while supplying food and hot soups to the people trapped in the region.

Many people in Sichuan province lined up at local health centers to donate blood for the injured.

The earthquake damaged more than 300 communication base stations and 134 kilometers (83 miles) of optic fibers while electricity was also cut off in many areas.

Not surprisingly, this is a tacit understanding and tradition between China and Japan.

On May 12, 2008, the Sichuan earthquake in China, Japan was the first country to send an international rescue team and announce its donation. China was the first country to send an international rescue team and announce its donation after the earthquake in Northeast Japan on March 11, 2011. And usually both countries are the countries that contribute the most to each other's disasters.

Locals received the earthquake warning from the national earthquake monitoring system on their cellphones 30 seconds before this earthquake. 30 seconds are not enough for the people to get to the safety, useless..

If the alert can extend to 5 minutes before the quakes, it will save many people's lives.
