The United States of America's National Security Agency monitored the communications of Turkey’s leaders, as well as dozens of other world leaders, according to a new book “Der NSA Komplex”.

Released on Monday in Germany, the work by Spiegel journalists Marcel Rosenbach and Holger Stark includes details of National Security Agency documents provided to the German weekly by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden.

According to one agency document titled “National Intelligence Priorities Framework”, the U.S. spied on the leaders of its allies and adversaries to obtain information on their intentions, including foreign policy objectives and financial and economic situations.

The agency grouped countries into different ranks according to their importance for U.S. national interests and intelligence priorities of the U.S. President.

The group ranked “1” was entitled “Top priorities of the U.S. President” and included surveillance activities targeting countries such as Iran, Russia, China and Pakistan.

Another document dated April 9, 2013, covered in the book, entitled “High intelligence priorities of the U.S. President” included information on the political leaderships of close allies such as Turkey and Israel.

The book also disclosed that the U.S. National Security Agency monitored communications of 33 embassies and diplomatic missions on U.S. soil, including European Union offices in New York and Washington and the embassies of Turkey, Greece, France and Italy.

well I knew they were anti-Syria, so now they are anti-AKP, but that still doesn't mean they stopped being anti-Syria?? or what?
They are only pro-Gulen, the rest is just temporarily interest or show to the Turkish people. If they were caring/loving about Turkey or if they were anti-Syria, they wouldn't release such top secret tapes. Now they fight akp, tomorrow another party if that party tries to battle them. It's all about their own gains. This group's influence must be diminished.

Why bother? They are taking care of themselves.

Turkey will be in a War with Syria before 2014 is over.

The conversation started out with the Turks talking about how they can protect this tomb from ISIL. This is not controversial. I don’t believe the Syrian government would care about the Turks intervening to protect the tomb, since this is an area where it has lost control anyways. Plus, I’d bet the Syrian government would be happy to see the Turks bogged down fighting ISIL militants who’d otherwise be fighting them.

Such an incident would be a sort of foot in the door to further military activities inside Syria and would allow the Turks to help their favored rebel groups, which have seen serious setbacks lately.

That step would clearly cause them to go to war with the Syrian government and drastically expand the conflict. And once Turkey is involved inside Syria, that opens the door for NATO to be involved.

The Erdogan government has staked a huge amount of domestic political capital by supporting the Syrian rebels. They gambled that their favored rebel groups would quickly win and as a result, Turkey would have more geopolitical influence in a post-Assad Syria. It was a losing bet. Turkey’s favored rebels have seriously faltered, and a growing number of Turkish voters have become skeptical of their government’s intervention and the blowback it’s causing.

A false flag incident with the tomb would be a way for Erdogan to double down in a desperate attempt to turn things around in Syria. Whoever leaked this conversation clearly timed it to take the wind out the sails of such a strategy.

'TURKEY COULD HAVE STARTED WAR AFTER JET SHOT BY SYRIA'

ANKARA — Speaking to a TV Program aired on Kanal 24, Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on Wednesday made striking remarks on recent developments.
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu responded the allegations that Turkey will be involved in Syrian civil war after the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) last month threatened that they will demolish the tomb of Suleiman Shah, the Turkish enclave in Syria.

Davutoğlu said, "Suleiman Shah is Turkish land. If Turkey had wanted to go to Syrian war, we would have taken action when they dropped our jet in the first place. Until now, we have tried our best to leave Turkey out of the war."
