Sri Lanka to train Pak army

Is this a joke. Many srilankan Army is trained by Pakistani trainers. Many of Asia's special forces come to Pakistan to get trained by SSG.

Why do you find it difficult to accept that learning never should be an issue for anyone. Getting educated at time would only make you better and you lose nothing. Did you miss the saying "Ilam hasil karo kok say gor tak" (Seek knowledge from the day you born till you die). Moreover as for your concern regarding the fact the we are getting trained by an inferior military, i must say that you are just so wrong, as in the game of arms, no one is guud or bad, it's just that who is more experienced and have mastered its terrain specific tactics.

The Sris are THE Best as regards to jungle warfare and naval tactics against terrorists as they are the one who have fought them most and the longest, and BTW they have been victorious. So we shouldn't degrade their experience just because they were initially trained by us. And lastly, we as Muslims also believe that knowledge, may it come from an inferior being, must be sought, ALWAYS! So it's never too bad to learn just anything from anyone, may it be a minnow.

Why you feel this is a joke that Sri Lanka will be teaching Pak Army some tactics about guerrilla warfare. They have an experience of 30 years fighting in mountains and forests. There is nothing wrong in this.

i don't believe this. the news is wrong Pakistan army helped sri lankan army in wining this battle. i think the news is other way round and this news is totally wrong i don't believe this its full crap.

Keep believing it bro, it won't change the reality.

This must be a joke, cant be right. Sharing relevant experience is something else, Training....noway this cant be right.

they have also trained a lot in BD military schools for long as well. Now, there military is one of the most battle hardened military in the world and improved tremendously due to ground reality.

They are training the sniper of BD and I heard for the similar geographic territory there sniper are one of most experienced.

Obviously, Pak military is much advanced compare to BD.

Given Take is Part of life so We must not feel Shame that srilankans are training us!!!!!!!!!

ExActly experience worths . its not merely about weapons but experience as well. That's what stretching the afghan war 8 years of war & no significant victory for usa & nato in afghanistan...

Like i said earlier, some of the Sri Lankan soldiers I have met are TOUGH as hell. I wouldnt want the barrel of their Type-83s pointing in my direction that's for damn sure!

Apart from broadening our brotherly relations with the country, we can build on our experience. Pakistan Army and the Frontier Corps have only been dealing with unconventional guerilla warfare for the past 3-4 years. That is peanuts.

We are fighting an enemy that not only uses hit & run tactics; but we are fighting an enemy that is not garbed in Army uniform. They blend in with civilians. We are fighting an enemy in territory that is rough and rugged. Where stepping on a rock or blindly walking through tall fields of grass in meadows can get you blown to bits or hit by nearby sniper fire.

Lankans know the name of the game when it comes to counter-guerilla warfare. And i find it an honour to have them cooperate and teach us their skill-sets on this.

p.s. taleban aint got submarines or an 'air force' the way the LTTE did!!!!

Excellent point sir.
If you allow me to add they can really tell us much more about funding and recruitment tactics used by terrorists for the insurgency.

these are ground wars.

It would be prudent to have the tribal maliks and elders attend the "meetings" as observers.

I don't want the government to start handing out Kalashnikovs telling them to engage in "Rambo-like" vigilante behaviour. But the tribal lashkars have been an enormous help for the Army. It's happened in Swat, Orakzai and other localities in FATA (including my native Kurram).

Apart from going into the social aspects........I would like the government and the Army to work closer with the people on the ground. We need to build on our intelligence gathering --which we already have started to do (as per reliable sources).

What has bothered me the MOST and makes me fuming fuming angry is the fact that for too long, taleban FM radio channels have been broadcasting CRAP and BULLSHIT to the locals.

I met a young gentlemen from Swat valley who was temporarily situated in the Mardan. He told me that the taleban slapped him (in front of his kids) because he had his radio on while he was sitting outside. He had his radio on, but it was not tuned to the "taleban channel"

So they slapped him, and told him that everyday at noon they will come to his house. If the radio is not playing taleban propaganda, they willl ransack his house and put a bullet in him.

(true story)

a ruthless and "besharam" enemy.......

sorry i went off on a tangent. But I shared it, because there are thousands like him who have suffered. We will not tolerate such people in this great nation --our motherland ---

We will uproot them.

Oh yes we will.

Inshallah.

The government of Pakistan wants the Sri Lankan military to train its personnel in counter-insurgency operations, the Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, Lt-Gen Jagath Jayasuriya, told journalists. He said several other countries had also sought information about the strategy and tactics adopted by the Sri Lankan armed forces to decimate the LTTE in just three years of intense fighting."We'll give a favourable response," Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya said of the request. He said the Sri Lankan military envisaged specialist courses lasting up to six weeks, directed towards small groups from interested armies.

Pakistan helped Sri Lanka fight the LTTE by supplying arms when other countries had put an embargo on arms sales to the country. Adm Wasantha Karannagoda, a former naval chief who is currently the National Security Adviser, had said at an international naval seminar in the UK that the strategies and tactics used by the Sri Lankan navy to tackle the LTTE’s naval arm could be of use to other navies because in the conflicts of the future navies would be facing not battleships and destroyers but small and fast boats of non-state rogue navies which could be indulging in insurgencies, piracies and trafficking of various kinds. In late May, Pakistan - like China and Russia - helped Colombo defeat a motion at the UN which would have criticised both the government and the rebels for allegedly violating humanitarian law during the war.
