South Asian Games 2016

Good for Togo. If Jamaica can beat supa puwa India then we have nothing much to care about. And why should we bother about Togo or anyone else when we have a billion plus jerks to care about us and our medals.

Its funny because Pakistanis were the ones that were always going on about how 1 of them equals 10 Indians....and now reality has come to roost (and it keeps getting more stark each passing moment)...so Pakistanis have to bring in other countries to make themselves feel better.

I guess 1971 has made that much of an impact on your fragile national psyche....an its been a big downward spiral for your lot ever since.

Indian posters would surely disagree with me but Pakistani's are more natural athletes when it comes to South Asia
We would agree if there is some backing with proof. India dominated in weightlifting, wrestling, etc. Now don't come up with that India has more population, so more medals. If other country wins medals, its because they are better and if India wins medals its because of population. But did you know many of those bronze and silver medals which rest of South Asia won is because India can't have gold and silver or bronze at the same time, in many games.

Vikas Thakur (@jamahir Thakur :D) had same weight just like his opponents, 84 Kg. But he lift the amount of weight in snatch which others struggled to lift in clean & jerk.

This is the one example, yet i am not claiming to be stronger than Pakistanis or Sri Lankans. We all are equal, doesn't mean similar (in case someone got offended @Talwar e Pakistan :D).

Is it general policy of the games that a country can at most send only one athlete to represent per event?

This would explain why India is not able to pull away in medal total so much, and also why its stacked heavy to gold etc.

Not 1 athlete, it depends upon game. For ex. in Badminton Qualification for Rio 2016, a max. of 2 players per country can participate even if there are more than 2 players ranked in top 16 in doubles or top 32 in singles. However countries are free to chose which 2 players will take part despite the rankings. And host has 1 quota each in singles only. And there are other factors too like continent quota, etc. This was just about the Rio Badminton Q , different games has diff. rules.

Sry 36 not 32.

wow we have cross 100 gold...:yahoo:

34 gold we got today and continuing

It is funny that a supa puwa India is humiliated again and again by countries like Estonia, Jamaica, Nigeria etc etc.

And your guess is bullsh!t. You just brought 1971 to feel good. Supa puwa indians need it again and again. Apparently comparison with Jamaica has hit hard.

I will let results speak for themselves. You yourself can search up what Pakistan used to win back in the day, and what it wins these days.

If anything 1 Pak = 10 Indians has been completely reversed :D.

So its easy to see why you are desperate to bring in more countries.....because India versus Pakistan is a foregone conclusion by a landslide.

So any effort to make India look bad is a victory for you guys now, not caring it makes Pakistan look 10 times worse or more.

Its ok, that attitude will just keep you in the rut and decline, while we continue to improve and gain.

1971 was simply the watershed moment in etching this deeply in Pakistan national psyche.....because it was a gust of wind that caused the house of cards (1 Pak mard e momin = 10 Hindu weaklings) to crash down so violently.

Pakistan has been in defensive/mimic/equal-equal mode in everything ever since as best as it can.....so you have ignored and continue to ignore very basic things that are now becoming more and more glaring to everyone else.

Sports is just one small avenue of this....but it is quite a good glimpse into the overall phenomenon of Pakistan's decline relative to India in just about everything that matters.

Even a dog wont smell urs... The strench of people like you is so unbearable. People faint within 100 meter diameter of you. In your case, ur tashreef burnt so badly that we can see your pelvic bones!

Booho. Still Jamaicans are beating you and kicking bharat mata's rear side on every Olympics and would continue to do so for a long time to come. And not only jamaicans but Ningeria, Algeria, Estonia, Bulgaria and God knows how many more small tiny countries are humiliate India despite having population less than Mumbai. And would continue to do so for a long time to come.

Now in such a humiliating situation, it is only Pak vs India that would some solace to my cute bharati friend who ran to Canada. 1971 would be brought to give some further solace. But even this so called watershed moment won't give any comfort. Because those black jamaicans would still win thrice the number of medals than black but wanna be gora bharatis. How tragic!! isn't it? :D

So you smelling my as$?Good. Well that is your auqat. To smell rear sides of Pakistanis. Keep sniffing it bro. ;)

So all these countries can humiliate India....but Pakistan cant? What does that say about Pakistan? Especially when it was Pakistan spouting 1 = 10 in the beginning.

Jamaica's success is not Pakistan's success. They (Jamaicans) have a top percentile of athletes in athletics...good for them. But they didnt replicate the same level of success compared to India in Commonwealth games (India won more)....it shows they are very specialised in one realm to consistently win at the highest level (olympics)....just like say Kenyans at long distance racing. Thats why India ends up winning more medals than Jamaica, Kenya and Nigeria in the commonwealth games.....olympics rewards specialisation because of sheer amount of countries competing. But this all is way past the discussion of what concerns Pakistan....which wins a big fat 0 gold medals even in commonwealth games:lol: and is now getting less than a third of what Sri Lanka is getting in gold medals at South Asian games.

So tell me when a Pakistani gets to even 50th percentile of anything in sports. Why arent those 1 = 10 superiority being represented in any way these days...anywhere? Why the constant 0's in the olympics? Why the recent 0 golds in commonwealth games (compared to before where pakistan won at least 1 or 2)?

You are already at Bangladesh level these days, soon even they will surpass you....and we will have to compare you to Nepal and Bhutan....and then later some place like djibouti or maldives. This is the trend that is happening right now even in the smaller competitions like Commonwealth and South Asian Games.

south asian game day 4

That Indian wrestling chick totally dominated that Bangladeshi at the start. And that was the gold medal match?!?!

India dominating at wrestling in general. We really got to focus on getting some golds in olympics here!

Agree.. The smaller the country and less the talent pool, Countries need to concentrate on chosen fields to gain success, Some times those can be sports they're traditionally strong with a long history or sports that they are have natural ability to be good at, As you mentioned the Caribbeans at Sprints, East Africans at long distance and Eastern Europeans at Aquatics, Even on a regional scale Lankans are good at Sprints and Swimming

For much larger countries of the world like China, India, The US and Russia can end up getting more medals all around on sheer numbers of participants and the investments they do on Sports, Even though some Indian posters here have already dismissed the notion, Numbers do matter significantly

Back to my argument about Pakistani's tend to be more natural athletes.. Well the opposition to that notion by Indians are expected, Well the best testament to my point is take the two sports that the both countries are competitive in at global scale Cricket and field Hockey, It's undeniable that Pakistani's churn out freakishly talented players throughout the years under trying circumstances with less funding, less infrastructure and less chances of succeeding than Indians overall.. Results speak for themselves, imo if those sportspeople are given equal opportunities we could see their true potential

Not taking anything away from Indian success in recent times at world stage, They have proven with the right investments what can we archived in a rather short period of time at that, The yearning to be recognized as a world power is also one motivation for Indian establishment for their success at sporting events

Well I would agree with everything you said so far, except the Pakistanis being more "natural athletes".

You have to remember up to the 90s, Pakistan had a higher GDP per capita than us (often quite significantly, I think the peak disparity was sometime in the 80s). This roughly translated into more margins per person to spend on things like sports. Its also why even after this much economic growth in India, the wealth per adult of Pakistan is still slightly higher than India (though this will change very shortly by the sheer trajectories both countries are in).

When we temper the results with that, it becomes quite apparent to me there is no big difference in fundamental natural athletic ability between the two sides.

This also explains to me why Indian Cricketing performance is getting better and better compared to Pakistan (historically speaking). As far as hockey goes, I dont think there was any big difference in the talent of both sides....they waxed and waned relative to each other throughout the years in the pre-turf era (both alternated no 1 and no 2 spots internationally and the rest were far below)....and both took a drastic tumble once turf became the standard surface.

There still isnt enough investment in field hockey from both sides to really compare. Only private investment in other sports in earlier years resulted in Pakistani success in Squash and Indian success in Tennis....during the lean rather undeveloped years.

But now there is definitely a lag forming in investment in sports between India and Pakistan and I think it will only expand further in the years to come.

India also has a much higher variety of genetics to choose specialisation of sports from given the proper nurturing and funding. It could help even more in the long run. PT Usha was from Kerala (she probably has some of that Sri Lankan type DNA), Mary Kom from the North East, Vijay Amitraj from TN, Leander Paes from Bengal, Gopichand from AP etc....and most made their names in the especially bad sporting years (in non-Cricket world)....so one can only hope for the best around the corner....already very promising starts have been made in Badminton, Boxing, Weightlifting and Wrestling....with the international promotion of Kabbadi we may see it in the olympics soon too.

Numbers do matter. But culture matters way lot more. China and US don't play Cricket good. US don't play Badminton good. China don't play Hockey good. Also Individual sports needs self funding. And when Indians themselves go US for training due lack of facilities then how can we compete with them. There is a long way to go for India.

Fine.
