Sanitation - Pakistan beats India

As Muslims, cleanliness is our core principle and we take care of it.

hindus don't have this concept.

Do you know that in india, Muslims have a higher life expectancy than hindus--even though hindus are more developed socio-economically? (TimesofIndia).

This is because Muslims take extreme care of hygiene while hindus...........the less said the better (being politically correct here).

Have you looked at which parts of India have the best sanitation coverage? Do they correlate to religion in any way?

Not only sanitation, Pakistan also beats India in terms of "piped (clean) water supply" to households, and so on..

Over the past decades (1950-2008), Pakistan has been ahead of/better than India in terms of

Sanitation (Pakistan still ahead)

Poverty rates (Pakistan still ahead)

Clean Water supply (Pakistan still ahead in terms of pipped water pluming to houses, but difference is very little now in terms of overall improved water supply)

GDP per capita (PPP) (India caught up in 2009, doing better now)

Urbanization rates (Pakistan is still ahead)

Malnutrition (Now India has caught up, and the difference is negligible with 1% to 2% in favor of may be Pakistan or India..but similar situation overall)


However, one thing where Indians have outdone us is education. Our literacy rates are still lower than India's and have been lower post-independence.

Overall, Pakistan has provided a better environment and life to its citizens than India in all previous decades post independence


However, things are changing in favor of India now--due to our lost decade, war on terror, floods, Earth quakes that have stalled us in last decade and a half.

Hopefully, Pakistan will restart its journey and come back on track!

India is many positions ahead of Pakistan on the Human Development Index which measures the basic level of development of human beings in a country where India is ranked medium and Pakistan is ranked low. This is a far more holistic indicator of development of a society rather than just income poverty.

2. Legatum Prosperity Index - India ranked 99 and Pakistan 130.- Measures wealth, economic growth, education, health, personal well-being and quality of life. http://www.prosperity.com/

3.There are many health and nutrition indices on which India is doing better than Pakistan including malnutrition.

5. In terms of education and literacy, indeed India has done better as you rightly pointed out.

6. Urbanisation rates having nothing to do with development.

7. India is better in GDP PPP Per capita as you rightly pointed out.

8. The average Indian lives longer than the average Pakistani (Life expectancy).

10.The overall infrastructure in India is better than Pakistan. Check the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Index.

11. India has done far better than Pakistan in terms of science and technology.

12. In the lost of fragile states index - Pakistan ranks a lowly 14 (till recently was in top 10) and India is ranked around 70 showing that violence and political instability in Pakistan is much more than India.

13. In Global Terrorism Index too India is better than Pakistan despite being 6 times the size of Pakistan in population.

15. Internet penetration in India (35%) is much higher than in Pakistan (18%).

16. In terms of business environment, job creation, foreign investment too India is far ahead of Pakistan.

17. In terms of reputation abroad. Check out the Global Passports Index - Pakistani passport is the 2nd last most useless passport in the world only better than Afghanistan and is ranked at 94. These are just some things in which India has done better than Pakistan which I could pull out without any research.

Considering the fact that Pakistan has only 1/6th of India's population on 1/3rd of India's land size, Pakistan ideally should have done much better than India on every count.

Pakistan has done better on income poverty levels, access to electricity and sanitation and it is commendable indeed. But such di*k measuring posts and self patting on the back is best avoided by either of the two countries since we both have a lot of work to do and just cant be satisfied with being ahead of each other on anything because we are behind most of the world on almost everything.

Before making such racist, communal and bigoted posts you should have at least considered what 2 million Hindus living in your country would think if they read this. No wonder even after 70 years of partition they are still fleeing to India. This is also for those 2 who thanked them.
