While coming out of court on Tuesday, Kamal Chauhan, an accused in Samjhauta blasts, replied to press that he did it (planted bombs in the Delhi-Lahore train) as per his will.

Kamal Chauhan placed one of the four bombs in Samjhauta train, says NIA sources. The other bomb was
allegedly placed by Lokesh Sharma. A total of four bombs were planted in the train. Due to two explosions, 68 people died on February 18, 2007 near Panipat. The train was bound for Lahore.

Chauhan hails from Indore. His father Radhe Shyam claims that he is 22 -year-old, so at the time of blasts he was 17 years old (minor), but NIA claims that he is presently 28-year-old.

NIA counsel RK Handa told the court of additional district and sessions judge Kanchan Mahi that Chauhan took training at Kirni Shooting Range in Madhya Pradesh (MP) along with accused and had been trained in handling bombs. He also told the court that a witness Shivam Dhankar had named him for his involvement in Samjhauta blasts and after that he was arrested in Noida. He sought 15-day remand of the accused but the judge granted for 10 days. He will be produced in NIA court on February 24.

Before that defence lawyer Anil Soni moved an application for seeking interview with Chauhan which was allowed. Chauhan also talked to his father for about five minutes.

Radhey Shyam, father of Kamal Chauhan, said, "He is a farmer. We have about six-acre land in the village. He used to worship cows in 'Gangajal Gaushala' in the village. He has no links with Sandeep Dange, Ramchandra Kalsangre and Lokesh Sharma. He does not know Sunil Joshi." He agreed that Chauhan was regularly visiting RSS shakhas.

Soni said that NIA asked Chauhan to come to police station of Depalpur on February 10. From there he was taken to Indore police line. Then they took him to Delhi by air on February 12. Instead of taking him to NIA court in Delhi, they produced him in NIA court in Noida for transit remand. "As the present government wanted to reap benefits in Uttar Pradesh elections, they took him to Noida court. Our lawyers were ready in Delhi. To devoid him of any legal help they took him to Noida," Soni alleged.

He showed an application written to SHO of Depalpur police station, dated February 11, where SHO also replied that NIA took him from there on February 10. "We want to prove that he was in their illegal custody since February 10. But he has been shown to be arrested on February 12," he said. He also alleged that Chauhan had told him about physical and mental torture.

Chauhan's arrest will help NIA corroborate Swami Aseemanand's confessional statement in which he had claimed that Hindu extremists were behind the Samjhauta blasts. His statement under Section 164 CrPC is likely to be get recorded by NIA.

Aseemanand was leader of Gujarat-based RSS-affiliated Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and was also involved in mass re-conversions.

Two RSS activists Sandeep Dange and Ramchandra Kalsangre have been declared proclaimed offenders in the case. As per the charge sheet in the case, Sandeep Dange, Ramji Kalsangre and Lokesh Sharma under the leadership of Sunil Joshi (now dead) were instrumental in not only procuring the raw materials for Improvised Explosive Devices(IED) but also getting these fabricated and planted in the target. NIA has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each on the absconding Ramji and Dange and Rs 2 lakh on Amit Chauhan, who is also a key suspect and whose exact role in the crime is among the subjects of further investigation.

congrats to our NIA for doing an unbiased investigation and bring the culprit to public
