Replacing the F-16: Will Pakistan’s Top Fighter Squadron Transition to Chinese J-10Cs?

Modern air warfare is being carved on ease of interoperability in terms of communication, data passing and counter electronic intelligence warfare. this should be a crown prerogative for aircraft procurement.

Ease of absorption is crucial folks. Be it a western system or non-Western it should be able to capitalize on digital warfare promptly effectively. The aviator should be in solace knowing how his weapon will act when he wants it to, this is fundamental modern warfare business folks.

And if the j-10 can pull this off effectively it is worth 2 f-16s in the bush.

The biggest challenge facing PAF when the induction will be done for J-10 aircraft is interoperability between assets, we can safely contend it will be an information overhaul when these birds land. Presently, we operate a large number of Saab's erieyes a western system alongside D-20 Falcons for better air picture so to speak, to utilize this air image we intern cultivated link 17 our very own indigenous protocol for communication between all aircraft albeit not for Americans bucks.

my sole concern is how long and how effectively this platform will be absorbed into the current air information domain. That is without needing extra Chinese solutions to provide a clutter-free digital communication void.
Same dilemma was with JF-17s. That issue has been resolved.

If inducted the J-10CP would be a customized variant borrowing datalink from the JF-17B3.

What i think doesnt matter.. what ground reality are facts.

Having a normal relationship with USA (hence the west) is going to be impossible, what they want from us we can never do (and we shouldn't) and thus we are set forth for a perptual adverisial relationship, despite the current gov best attempts to reconcile with the americans. I think IK has bent over backwards to accomodate the americans and giving some very good options such it's Economic-Security plan for the region. The fault lies 100% with americans who clearly have a sinister hidden agenda.

The Pakistan military establishment knows it and has correctly hedged it's bets ie security alliance with China and rapidly growing ties with Russia. Russia want to contain american expansion which it views it very negatively. So whether you or I like it .. doesnt matter the fact is we are heading for a polarised block. I agree we should not sit in Russian or any one's lap for that matter... but that is where it is headed.

Long term China is our partner and will be the alfa ally for us, with Russia we have a conversion of interest which we should and are exploiting ever so slowly.

Su-57 acqusition is not just weapon but a symbol of Russian alliance which mutliplies the complexity of any US decision to attack or conduct an adventure on Pakistan. India alone has no balls or skill to attack Pakistan. If Pakistan and Afganistan has peace for the next 10 years it there will be almost nothing to stop Pakistan in achieving it's rightful potential as regional economic and military power.

Unlikely we will be a competitor to China, as given our geography and resources we always be a complentary nation to their interest.
Try get the Azm online with a chinese engine and then try selling it to see what happens. Competitiveness is a common practice amongst most nations. Look at Canada and see how many of their programmes have been shafted by the US. Sooner or later this same situation will arise between China and Pakistan. We will be fine doing joint ventures of products which they do not sell but as soon as there is a competing project the thumb screws will start being tightened.

Pakistan should get J-10C and the related technologies.
But we need to improve our economy and education in order to get such valuable technologies.

We have the enough natural resources to be among the top 10 economy of Asia, unfortunately we have been ruled by corrupt incompetent people with lack of vision and planning. with security situation on all three borders, political turmoil, religious extremist running wild, and incompetent people in bureaucracy, it will take miracle to see any significant improvement in economy.

Current government will need multi-prong strategy to stabilize and create sustainable economy.

What steps should be taken?

In order for economy to turn around, out of the box strategy is needed. For example, government needs to promote tourism industries, cheap housing schemes, support IT companies and startups, using new advance technology to increase agriculture production, new land should be allocated to test new plant species, increase and explore that opportunity to make organic medicine from cannabis. Halal Meat, seafood and cheese export. Over 60% of our population is Jahil and have no idea about economy or how to create a sustainable economy.

While using multi-prong strategy to fix the economy or to create a sustainable economy, we need to move toward 100% digitalization and decentralization of power. This will reduce over 50% of government overhead and increase efficiency and performance.
“At the heart of the problem is a phenomenon referred to in Pakistan as 'circular debt' – a cascade of unpaid bills and government subsidies, coupled with transmission line losses.”
I think it’s more than that...
1) reducing Circular debt
2) Decreasing the Price of generating electricity.
3) reducing Distribution cost
4) Preventing electricity theft by catching and convicting the culprits (special court for that).
5) Catching and convicting those who are Intentionally over billing or under billing.
6) Move away from fossil fuels and using renewable energy including wind (vertical windmill), solar, wave, hydropower, biotechnology, etc.
7) Move toward sustainable living.

If Pakistan play's its cards well and it has done in the past, it isnt far fetched to see Russia-Pakistan high stake defense deals. such as Su-57
The best Russian fighter jet for PAF would be the SU-75. SU-75 would be a much better option than the SU-57.

Key reasons being:
1. Much cheaper
2. Costs much less to maintain.
3. Is single engine
4. Can be inducted in large numbers unlike the SU-57

The SU-75 would not suit PAF very well. The price will be around 150 USD million. Waste of money. Would be better to buy J-31/J-35 from China.

I am weary of Russian export version of their planes..

besides we need a cutting edge plane to deter the Indians .. already mr Amit shah has been making statements about new surgical strikes on Pakistan..

some body in the IAF must have told modi now they won’t fail….
:what:

You forgot the most important and IMO limiting factor: It is not yet existent and even if in a few years, it is unproven!

J10ce is a good plane however Pakistan might need j10p, that should be twin seat with Russian engine and CFT. This plane should be Pakistans F16I OF ISRAEL Air force equivalent.
Other than that paf might be wasting time and funds
Twin seat is based on the J-10A model, one that was rejected by PAF way back in time. I doubt PLAAF / AVIC has any desire to invest in the twin seat J-10C(xyz) as they have other options ( J-11/16,) so it would be up to PAF / PAC to put up the $ to go for a platform like that. JF-17-B will have to fulfill that role for PAF.

I meant to write the SU-57. Why are so angry at a comment? Did you have a bad day or something?

Pakistan has pimped up, and modernized the JF17 so much, that other options, like the J-10C, seem to give diminishing returns. I think in case of Pakistan, JF17 block 3 with AESA, PL15s, with SAAB ERIEYEs and electronic warfare is good for another 15 years.

Pakistan can have multiple JF-17s for maritime role, ground attack, air superiority and what not. Where the hell does J-10C even fit in all this?

Pakistan should wait another few years, and straight up ask uncle Xi : "Gib 5 gen aircraft plis"

There is literally no sense in procuring a jet that is marginally better than the JF17 in Pakistani context.
