92 km/hr. Its mentioned in the article....

The present infrastructure is very poor. I think its from the British Colonial rule...

Give the contract to the Chinese, they'll finish it and do it better and faster.

In early nineties the track was upgraded for speeds upto 120 Kph. I wonder what happened thereafter?

Improving railways would provide a far better return than constructing motorways. But then PML-N people get to earn more with increase in land prices associated with Motorway nodes. Railways does not have that and therefore it will stay a secondary priority.

Even Indian rail infra is rather poor.
Our average train speeds are around 90kmph as well. IR is trying to increase its rail speed as well. Its a very expensive proposition.

The Western world and China are far ahead of what we have been able to do. We need to desperately catch up - the entire subcontinent.
