Raheel Sharif's conditions to head coalition accepted by Saudi Arabia

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s former army chief General (r) Raheel Sharif had laid down three conditions before Saudi Defence Minister for his joining the coalition as its head and joined it only after those three conditions were accepted by Saudi government, reported Dunya News.

According to Lt Gen (r) Amjad Shoaib, Saudi Defence Minister had visited Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif to express Saudi government’s desire to have General (r) Raheel Sharif as the head of the 39-country coalition led by Saudi Arabia.

Amjad Shoaib said that he had talked to Raheel Sharif and discussed in detail the conditions he had laid down before the Saudi government to join the coalition. According to Amjad Shoaib, the conditions were as follows:

- Raheel Sharif would be the commander or in-charge of such a force and there would be no command above him.

- Iran must be invited and added into the coalition.

- Raheel Sharif will have the authority to mediate between any two member countries in case of some disagreement or confusion.

Amjad Shoaib said that the conditions were accepted by Saudi government and he joined it only afterwards.

“Mr Raheel Sharif told me that Saudi Defence Minister had shared the proposal with PM Nawaz Sharif and PM had conveyed it to him. He told PM that it would be an honour for him but possible only if his demands were accepted”.

The formal proposal in this regard will be sent to Pakistan in the coming March

That was based on speculation. The confirmed news have only started to appear since last week
Still, your is not an official source either. Both news carry same weight in regard of credibility.

What choices KSA/GCC folks have? While Iranian backed militant thugs are vying for blood in Hijaz, Uncle Trump is all about "America first" and getting rid of police jobs; so, no help from the usual allies. No matter what good intentions Reis Erdo'an has, Turkey herself is bogged down in an all out proxy war within and outside her border. Pak folks are probably extending the only helping hand that matters...

KSA can go for other options like BD and Egypt. Which will be very harmful for Pakistan. We should not loose trusted historical partners.

Kardeshim, BD or Egypt are no practical options...
They are not as effective and efficeint as Pakistan armed forces but Saudi will go to other options if we dont take this opportunity. India has already successfully taken away UAE. But, Indian will never do anything practical against Iran. So, Egypt, which is on a verge of bankruptcy, and BD, which has nothing to loose here only win, will be the options.

@bold... Bangladesh??? Like really? What standing does Bangladesh army have? No one counts them as a strong, capable well trained army.. Theres no comparison with Pak army

But i agree with you... Pak should not at any cost loose this opportunity... Gen Raheel Sharif, must lead this coalition.. We should not loose Arab allies.. India has been trying to woo our Arab allies since yemen issue.. Now this move by Gen Raheel will be a perfect counter strategy for india's so called isolation attempt of Pak.. Gen Raheel can lobby for Pak /Kashmir by being in direct contact with govts of 40 countries, by heading this alliance.. It will be a great honor for us, if our general leads this alliance

Still no credible source of KSA reporting any kind of news regarding RS.

As per Gen Amjad Shoaib, this will take formal shape in March.. KSA will give formal application/invitation to gov of Pak for approval in March
