There is a reason why we rejected the F 16 after months of trials in all parts of the country :coffee:

The comparison is unfair.

Rafale is an advanced 4.5 gen fighter while the F-16 is an older technology in the 4th gen range.

The biggest advantage that the Rafale has is the LCS, allowing it to come a bit closer without being detected and launch BVR missiles against the target. It may not be a sure-shot plan, but it keeps the enemy airforce bothered.

However, PAF F-16s will probably get AEW&Cs support which can significantly cut down on the Rafale's advantage.

If the production costs are taken into account, then the numerical advantage goes to the airforce fielding the F-16s.

IAF does not have the same budget constraints as the PAF, which is why they selected the best competitor in the MRCA.
No other aircraft came close. Plus there was the American-reliability issue which further reduced the F-16/F-18 chances.

@ANTIBODY sir, with all due respect, i don't find any reason in this comparison, IAF had accessed to both F-16 Block 52 (infact block 60) & Rafale in MMRCA competition. They have tested both platforms on 640+ technical parameters & down selected Rafale (F-16 couldn't even made it to final two). I am sure that you'll agree that IAF is a professional enough a force to have a good reason to select Rafale over F-16s, this itself proves that Rafale was way ahead of F-16s in all technical parameters.

Why PAF has to match first of all with IAF, IAF does not do this vis a vis USAF.
Its common sense....

If you wanna defy above common sense then come up economically first and then rub your shoulders with your nieghbours like India who was broke 15 years ago, one who pawned its gold into Bank of England by chartering two aircrafts lifting 400 tones of Indian gold towards England.

And now its self sufficient...

Instead of RAFALE VS F-16 BLOCK52+, this thread should be f-16blk52+ & MIRAJ-2000-9. That can give a healthy conversation.

I can smell of trolling in it because just see 53 pages discussion, ohhhhh.......man.

Even if they had selected F-16..Pakistan still had remained ahead as PAF has many years of Experience with the plain..and India could never had the element of surprise as Pakistan knows the plain inside out..
But PAF doesn't know about Rafale. This may be one of the top most factors in MMRCA competition rather than pure technical specifications.

your f-16's are strings attached ;) and on american mercy in case of war.

The only major restriction is that the plane cannot be used outside Pakistan's boundaries..which is fine as Pakistan needs the planes to Defend her airspace not to invade another country...

India never wanted american air craft in MMRCA :D

Well well..The "Indigenous" Tejas had to give in and ask for American engines so there there.

I think aircraft is much more than engine :D

Countries usually reject birds that hostile nations operate because the other nation already knows the ins and out of said bird.

Those first evaluation were based merely on technical factors, even Lockheed Martin acknowledged it after they were informed about all details of the IAFs decision to go for the Rafale/EF.
