Hyderabad, Oct.7

‪Qualcomm has outlined plans to invest $400 million (about Rs 3,000 crore) to set up their campus in Hyderabad. This will be one of the largest investments by a marquee company, after the formation of Telangana in June 2014. Phase-1 of the project will include built-up space of 1.7 million sq ft, housing about 10,000 employees.

Vice-President of Engineering for Qualcomm, Shashi Reddy, and Director for Operations, Chandra Shekar Kumili, informed State IT Minister, K. T. Rama Rao, about growth plans for Qualcomm in the city during a meeting on Saturday.

‪Qualcomm, as a leading tech innovator, has played a key role in driving the wireless revolution by making mobile communications more accessible and affordable.

The facility in Hyderabad will be Qualcomm's largest campus globally after its San Diego headquarters, and the $400 million investment would be its largest globally.

The tech major leads in 5G and it envisions the next big change in cellular technology, spurring a new era of intelligent, connected devices and new opportunities in connected cars, remote delivery of healthcare services and IoT.

‪Qualcomm, which proposes to start work on its campus in 2019, has a presence in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. ‪In Hyderabad since 2004, the company has expanded across multiple floors in six leased buildings, with a head-count of about 4,000 employees.

Qualcomm’s campus and investment plan would give a boost to electronics and semi-conductor investment in the city. Earlier Micron, a semiconductor and a storage solutions company, had announced plans for a big presence in the city.

‪K.T. Rama Rao said: “By setting up its mega campus in Hyderabad and its largest globally after its headquarters in San Diego, Qualcomm now joins an elite list of companies to have their largest presence globally outside their headquarters, in Hyderabad. We have Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Facebook and now Qualcomm. This list will only increase as there are a few more companies that we are working with actively. This is indeed a big boost to the state of Telangana, the electronics and semiconductors industry and the ecosystem of operators, OEMs, regulators, start-ups and R&D engineers.”

‪Qualcomm Development Center engages in the areas of driving technology leadership in 5G, IoT, and Mobile Platforms (Snapdragon) Research, development of Qualcomm chipsets and support in commercialisation of advanced wireless modems and satellite communication, among other areas.

Headquartered in San Diego, Qualcomm has a market capitalisation of over $100 billion and has 167 offices and R&D and development centres around the world, including multiple sites in the US, India, Israel, Singapore, China, and Western Europe.

Sad to say..

A nation with a billion in population.

Fastest growing smart phone market.

Upmost demand for consumer and industrial telco equipment.

Indians arent interested in making any form of SOCs/equipments.

Losing billions of forex dollar to western and chinese companies :omghaha:

Everybody chooses his path in this world and his means to attain it. We simply think that the Chinese methods of stealing and copying are unethical and are willing to live with the costs. We as a nation have chosen not to go for development at the cost of our rights and morals. But China wouldn't understand that.

To sum it up - " The end does not justify the means"

Huawei bought the right from ARM to customized its Kirin SOCs.

So point to me how Huawei violate any ARM patent.

If you dont understand SOCs then stop embarrassing other Indians :omghaha:

And which country was and is the centre for pirated illegally copied medicine and drugs.

The same country where poor pakistani's flock for medical treatments. /s

Understand what evergreen patents are before spewing idiotic comments.
Not just evergreen patents e.g Viagra before 2006 and many many many more drugs.

China is doing great... but did they achieved all in initial years...

Cheat, steal, copy, hack... but they took what they want... MORAL can sleep thinking about moral...
Doing exactly what Americans did in the early 20th century. Brain is a good tool.

To them everything China does legally is illegal.

This is good. Qualcomm chips are the fastest and andreno is amazing for gaming. Pocophone by Xiaomi blew my mind away. Snapdragon 845 in twenty thousand ₹20000 INR. That's the same processor in note 9 global version that costs 800$ I guess and same in one plus 6.

Redmi is doing wonders shifting it's production to india. Chinese have done amazing things in smartphone market. Time for Indian players to start competing or lose the race forever due to pace of R&D in this field

now a days almost all the big product industries are setting up R&D hubs all across the India, this will make sure steady demand of quality man power, will improve pay scale, contribute to growth of country, and will also help in readying India for takeover when the time comes, this are signs of early days of Immense growth.

Should have mentioned Hyderabad, India in the title. It must have been misleading for some people in these trying times. :cheesy:

in 70s and 60s they have lot of R&D and Research facilities, i can prove you that and become giants in 90s , read the history kid @Tom M

every Indian guys here on PDF thinks that they (India) far far ahead to China including you @Papa Dragon , @randomradio ,@HariPrasad , @danger007 etc etc, you PATHOLOGICAL TROLLER @Tom M :p::p:D;):enjoy:

Show me a instance where, i said we are ahead of china.. i admire chinese industrial complex and their growth.. I don't make hypothetical situations like you guys... you thought as china bought S 400, they will allow you to train against it.. S 400 is something sensitive tech which neither china nor Russia allow you to sneak in... come to senses. No one gonna fight your war..

Here the Topic on discussion is about Tech companies like Qualcomm etc. And you simply are trying to prove that the Chinese were having similar companies and their R&D facilities back in 1960 and 70 by providing links of Aircraft Manufacturing facilities, huh? ?

The fact is almost all computer and information Tech gains from today even in USA where not even present back in 1960, most of them started back in 1980's or 90's. The current top Telecom and Mobile companies are a phenomena after 2000.

Now how can you cheerleader for something that was not present anywhere in the world during 60's and 70's, let alone China. :bunny::bunny::bunny:

Again can't you feel cheerleader and boast about the achievements of a foreign nation just to troll others?? What is exactly the contribution and development of your nation in these Tech fields?? How many manufacturing and R&D facilities do you have back home?? :sarcastic::omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

We have R&D facilities of almost all top tech companies around the world. You name it and I can prove it. But can you show the same happening in your country?? If not STFU, and let the Chinese claim and brag about their achievements which personally I admire. :-)
