5.iveco-otomelara freccia(partner-pipavav offshore and defence).
may be offered with the new hitfist ows 30mm turret which the MOD is also considering for BMP-2 upgrade.....
"For the Indian land systems requirements, Oto Melara is showcasing the 30mm OWS unmanned turret, suitable for installation on Armoured Infantry Combat Vehicles, namely the amphibious ones, thanks to its reduced weight and no penetration inside the hull. For such characteristics, the OWS is also ideal for retrofit of existing vehicles such as the BMP2. The turret is fit for the installation of two Anti Tank Ground Missiles (ATGM). Considering the interest shown by the Indian MOD towards the OWS turret, the technical/ commercial activities are carried out through a Memorandum signed between Oto Melara and the Indian Company Pipavav that implies a massive transfer of know how in case the turret is selected by the Indian MOD for the various land programs"

"For the Indian MOD armoured vehicle requirements, Oto Melara and Iveco (CIO) are promoting the Centauro Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle "Freccia" and the Centauro 120mm light tank. Also in this case the CIO proposes a significant collaboration with the Indian Company Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering Company Limited that involves the transfer of technology including the after sale services"

Freccia with hitfist ows 30mm turret(note the twin spike missile launcher, could be an advantage as army is planning to buy spike ATGMs for bmp-2s and also a important part of APC RFI)

while the big boys like TATA,L&T ashok leyland, mahindra are focussed on FICV the others can take part with APC program....

Hmmm. this is interesting. I wonder if this is still ongoing or has been supper seeded by the mammoth F-ICV program. This was back in 2009 and even back then it was said the Stryker was being seriously looked at but idk what happened there. Maybe IA thought they'd keep it simple and go for 1 type (F-ICV) as I haven't heard anything on this particular front recently.

you have a point the army may go in for wheeled as well as tracked(like with TATA FICV)................... but most of the exhibitions and news were from defexpo-2012 which may suggest that the program may still be going on.......
