Poll Shows India is Israel’s Best Friend; Russians Like Us Too

Indians have good opinion about most countries of the world. As long as you don't bother us we ll have good opinion of you. Its as simple as that really.

We are pretty friendly people. :agree:

We have no reason to hate them.

They are friendly to us and all friends get positive ratings.

1. A lot of Torah Jews from Russia are Israeli citizens. Israel is seen by the Jewish community as a Torah affair, and a substantial segment of Jews do not approve of a Jewish state.

2. In Asia Israel's friends are Singapore, India and Myanmar - in that order.

SO what's view about Zia Ul Haq?

Politics makes strange bedfellows (US, KSA, Israel, Pakistan) against the Soviets. Of course, the international landscape is always fluid and it's reasonable to remain flexible, but I don't see any major shift in the mutual mistrust.

Israel has some MAJOR ethnic and fundamentalist fault lines within its society. These tensions are only kept in check because of the external threats, and will erupt if/when Israel makes peace with its neighbors. (Puts a reality check on why Israeli government are less-than-keen on making peace.)

Both of our nations have too many similarities. We became independent at the same time. We are pluralistic societies. Both have the unfortunate experiences of non friendly neighbors.
Actually, Pakistan has much more in common than Israel. Both nations were created on the basis of religion.

Maybe that is as far as it goes!

But when you talk about similarities between India & Israel.. there are many. In both these countries gave birth to different religions. Both these countries have holy sites, which are among the holiest for its followers.
Both the countries, especially their dominant religions, are multi-ethnic and have many differences between the different communities. Even then countries have established a unity among its citizens mostly because of their problems with neighboring countries. These are only few of many..
