I hope different minorities in India are safe, very bad situation. Minorities in India suffer the most brutal violence, I pray there is no other riots which will make minorities suffer.

Their demand s is either give them quota or finished the quota system given to minorities.
please understand OBC is not minority( they are backward ).......in % they are higher than Muslim...technically brahmin are minority ,their population is less than 5%

but to be very honest ...i am happy with police and government action .......no more support to swaraj andolan....and such activity.....

Why is India already in a civil war, is this the effects of the collapsing Indian economy?

Under Modi, Indian secular and harmonious fabric is ripped and raped. This is just the beginning, in future, I see attacks coming on Muslims as well.

why attack on Muslim ? owasis is already demanding reservation , he already address many really ,,,,,but difference is, he is experience politician ........so their crowd management more efficient and better,

Indian army deployed to riot-hit Gujarat | The Nation

The Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel arrive in a special Indian Army plane to leave for Gujarat (Hindustan Times)
Thousands of Indian army troops have been deployed to riot-hit areas of Gujarat state following days of unrest that has led to at least seven deaths.

The Indian army could be seen patrolling areas hardest hit by the caste-related violence on Thursday, in what is being described by police as the worst to hit Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state in more than a decade.

The violence appears to have been triggered by the detention late Tuesday of the 22-year-old leader of a mass movement by the Patidar or Patel caste demanding preferential treatment for jobs and university places.

Director general of police PP Pande told the AFP news agency on Wednesday that three people had been killed in the main city of Ahmedabad, where an estimated half a million people gathered for a rally on Tuesday.

The violence later spread to other parts of the state and another two people were killed when police opened fire on rioters early Wednesday in Banaskantha district. A sixth protester died in Mehsana district later Wednesday, also in police firing, the district superintendent J R Mothalia said. The police also said that the seventh victim was a police constable, who was beaten by a mob and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

First major internal crisis for Mr.Modi.. Probably end of his honeymoon.. Lets see how he handles this

This is silly, protesting for qouta instead of better schools. That is why poor people stays poor. If this is the future of India......
When this system of reservation was devised some 70 years back, nobody thought it will be such a big problem for us.
At first, I used to think reservations based on caste/ethnicity is something unique to India. Then I found out, it happens elsewhere too. It is prevalent in Malaysia too, isn't it ?
In any case, we are going to handle it.

Most of the Non-Indian posters have no idea, have comprehension problem. No body knows the reason, just saw the headline and some burnt vehicles......and sat to type conclusions!!

Yeah, there are consequences like Malays too over represented in the Government while non-Malays are favored in the private sector.

Yeah.. saw that..I was in Malaysia earlier this year. My driver, a very nice lady, she used to talk all the time about discriminations in jobs. Her daughter is doing some course on Tourism in Kuala lumpur university.

We all have these problems. Our problems just become bigger and more complicated with such a huge population and wide array of ethnic diversity..Family planning is still not being promoted the way we would like it to be. We cannot have one-child policies, next day we will have riots everywhere. Demands for community-based reservations keep happening in India. Sometime ago, it was the Gujjars and Meenas and now the Patels.

Pretty clear.. The Patel caste in Gujrat are demanding preferential treatment thats reserved for more scheduled castes, and riots began because one of their leaders have been arrested
