Pakistan's ASFC conducts training launch of Shaheen-II MRBM Nov 13, 2014

They validated eff all....... it's just a reactionary launch........ budget and tech constrain is biting Pakistan hard....... we are what we are because of decades upon decades of neglect....... no one in their right minds "ToT's" advanced BM tech. It is what it is.

Maximum you can expect from Pakistan is to see a 3000km missile in the next decade (perhaps). Forget about advanced MIRV'ed and longer range missiles.

You'll keep on getting such "beyhooda" surprises every time India does a Mars flyby, goes to space, lands on the Moon. There's no short cut to solid R&D, and by the way such things can't be kept secret. You need an actual supporting solid industrial base, not some fancy "we are doing it all in secret".

All hail to corrupt politicians and armed forces that are more interested in business ventures than anything else.

I understand ! :(

But I wanted a bigger....badder missile !

So what do you think they validated in this training launch ? Whether their launch SOPs were adequate and effective or could there be some tinkering with the missile as well ?

If people were really opened up to the realities and rather dismal state of corruption and nepotism in R&D in Pakistan.. they would really start migrating in droves or looking seriously at breaking this country up so at least some areas can better manage themselves.

The organization that launches these systems is full of the redundant sloths from the military officer pool whose only interest is getting the daily activities of stamps and signatures done without any actual research. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of "projects" on files where progress is recorded by opening the file after filling out two forms cross checked and stamped.. then the file is read, sent for proof reading and signed, stamped and dated and is put back in the system... that would then signify the completion of that day's work on the MIRV system for a missile. With that the colonel/major or Brig is satisfied that he has done his halal earning and duty for the country...and is rightfully entitled to his tea and samosa along with the toothpick sandwich(toothpick not to be discarded but used.... as a toothpick later to avoid wastage).

Then there are even greater achievers who will order a $2 million dollar piece of equipment through the connivance of a half baked PhD fellow(with a PhD from some unknown Chinese university about which even the Chinese go 凡到底是什么?)
That order is placed via his uncles son who is qualified through the system without much ado.. and the firm is then paid some $900000 for the cost of this utterly redundant and useless piece of machinery which will spend the rest of its life gathering dust and cobwebs at some storeroom while the sir pockets $300000, his superiors/juniors/colluders the $300000 and the rest going to feed the other scavengers in the government machinery.

Lets go to where work is actually done in some cases. Here we have some young fellows who try to get some things going but are reminded about the various stamps and signatures needed to move a pen from the desk to the drawer. Even if they persist past that they are told that in case they get the chance to work.. even if they are not able to meet the requirements they are supposed to state that they did (unless the project has to be really killed on the orders of the highest folk).

What little you do see happening is only living off the impetus of people like Dr S, Dr. B.. and a few others who can be counted on a 100 grain "tasbeeh". The rest of the R&D system is essentially a nice retirement village for those officers who were found to be unfit to proceed further but the Army would like to be polite to them and let them leave with "dignity".

Not much difference in the intelligence organizations either.

Congrats. This is good range.
Somebody, bring back money from Noora league and zardari, 200+ Billion $ is enough for research & development sector. Invest maximum in new technology & bring more new quality universities with "actual" merit system..

wow hatf-IV- one two three four-
that must be some awesome IRBM-
One two three four That must be two staged
wow means extended range-
2 ton? - wow must be hutting target upto 4000 kilometers-
13 Nov 2014- wow warhead must be MIRV capable now since the first test was in 2000-

Nikla kya?-

Unfortunately, you are 200% correct. To top it all now they have a new criteria for promotions .. a panel of "EXPERTS" will promote you based on your vision for that POST .. :P Some times I wonder how the hell is this country still surviving ..

The last I heard the criteria for getting into certain key decision making centres required that you have a commission in the military. No other person is considered qualified to lead what is essentially nothing more than a "stamp and sign" post. ..
Or maybe they are right.. very few professionals from fields in their honest and right mind would be morally and ethically satisfied at drawing a salary, a car.. and making commissions whilst only stamping and signing.

The test was part of Field Training Exercise of Army Strategic Forces Command which was aimed at ensuring operational readiness of a Strategic Missile Group, so this do confirm again the active duty status of the Shaheen II system.
:)

Congratulations! :pakistan:

I will like to have some more details about what payload was it carrying.

Congratulations to the Pakistani scientists and defence.pk members who have been waiting for the missile test. There is no reason to feel sorry that it was not Shaheen II. The people know what they are doing and i personally am quite happy considering that it was a field training test of this missile.
but aslan bhai , I mean we are nuclear power, we should at least have some independent place for us in the world stage, something which the other nuclear power has curved for themselves , heck even Israel & north Korea has a more independent power projection , & are not confined to a south Korea/japan or the mid-east specific policy , but only we have limited our self to this "India in range" policy , which to be honest is now becoming out dated , I mean our we this weak with all our effort & power projection that we as nation is worth only 180 to a max 3000 km at best legacy , Aslan bhai , @The Deterrent for how long will we carry on like this, while all the others cashes their checks of power projection ability in the world stage ? or are we only there to be happy with a we got "India covered" identity , cant we have our own place in world stage with our own power projection abilities ? cant we have a more robust & independent nuclear & missile policy, isn't it about time, we started to ponder over this question ?
