Pakistani ICBM

Great news indeed and thanks @Rafi .

News like these only appear when in the Military terms it becomes 'OLD'. In other words, this capability was achieved at least 5-years ago, but is only being released to the public now. Now, 5-years ago it was decided by the Military hierarchy that it was not in the interest of Pakistan to display an ICBM capability. This does not mean that in the subsequent years that decision wasn't reviewed. There is every chance that this ICBM capability was expanded and at appropriate time it would be displayed.

We Pakistanis even had a name for it......Tamiur? Anyway just having the capability alone does not guarantee anything because if its not there in numbers, never tested, no data gathered on how well will it perform under threat of numerous ABM shields, its better you dont have it at all.
If capability is there than test one because there will be a day when Pakistan might need an ICBM. As for not having one, just look at what happened to Iraq and Libya, there were no weapons of mass destruction, yet those countries were turned into pile of rubble.

Doesn't need one.

Just make every inch of earth targetable at sub/super/hyper sonic speed with in 2500 sq km range.

Pakistani ICBM

Pakistani scientists and engineers have achieved the ability to build and test an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).

Capability was achieved, but the powers that be, have decided that for the time being that potential will remain just potential.

Full spectrum deterrence has been achieved against the neighbour to the east, and having a ICBM would invite a unnecessary spotlight on the homeland.

The only way I see that decision being changed is, well let's just leave it at that.
any reliable source?

India Tested first Nuke in 74, Pakistan didn't as it never had a Technology.

India Tested Agni, Pakistan didn't as it didn't have a Platform in 80s

Fast Forward 90s... Pakistan Gets Nodongs..from N. Korea. Nukes are ready in 1995.

As soon as India Tests Agni, they Test Gauri.
As soon as India Tests Nukes, Pakistan tests in a month.

They don't wait to HIDE their technology if they can MATCH it.

They even went ahead to show that they have MIRVs much before India. Though MIRVs are yet to be tested... They are not keeping away from Boasting that they have a 'capability'

In short, if they have the capability to launch satellites they will do it....it solves no purpose to hide it..in any manner....if it does please enlighten me.
Wow you have all the decision making calculus of Pakistan figured out in such a simplistic analysis … what Pak did for A and B 20 years ago, so they will also do the same for C now, and for D 10 years in future. Everything remains the same as is...

To your nuke point: If India had nuke tech and already tested nukes in 74 why test again in 98?

Pakistan needs a modern system for its Defensive Role; 2750 km and Short Range system are Pakistan's needs. Pakistan doesn't have existential threats beyond that range, and these weapons are reserved for dealing with existential threats. Making the Shaheen 3/Ababeel the best it can be should be the goal of the Strategic Plans Division. The mission is "Minimum CREDIBLE Deterrence". Therefore the focus should be on being credible. ABM penetration should be the next goal. Studying the Chevaline / Antelope program of the British SLBM force would be the best place to start.

One to Two warheads and 27 penetration aids; some exo-atmospheric, some aids that help in the atmosphere. This is huge. How many S-400's would India have to launch to destroy one warhead with all these penetration aids. One S-400 System has 384 Missiles (in 8 Battalions); A dozen missiles could consume all the defensive missiles of an S-400 System. India plans to buy 5 systems. 60 Missiles could consume all their defensive missiles with these penetration aids. At which point follow on missiles would not have to have as robust a defense as the S-400, and be able to assure the Minimum Credible Deterrence mission. Heck, Pakistan could fire dozens of missiles with Dummy warheads with these penetration aids to make the Indians use up their defensive missiles, and then unleash their actual missiles. If the incoming missile is convincing the Indians would shoot it down rather than take a chance. Having a missile with Penetration Aids and the Indians knowing we have such a missile is also a deterrence, not unlike the Nasr. It makes them think their defenses are inadequate and therefore they should not try their luck: War with Pakistan is unwinnable for them.

Improving the missile to being made of a lightweight carbon-epoxy casing, using better fuel to increase the thrust so the missile size can be made smaller and more mobile. These are the real needs of Pakistan's deterrence, not pie in the sky ICBM that bring unwanted attention.

If you live in the UK, go check out the Penetration Aid Vehicle for yourself. Its in a public museum.

There is a HUGE HUGE Difference between Nuclear Explosion and Deliverable Warhead.
Check out the FIRST Thermonuclear Test , It will surprise you.

Besides, I have deeply researched over Pakistani Nuclear Program, more or less, its timeline is quite known, Thanx to A Q Khan.

The Indian nuke tests gave Pakistan the perfect opportunity to become a declared nuclear power … so Indians deserve more thanks than AQ Khan.

Irrelavent.

Are you saying your point about thanks to AQ Khan was irrelevant ... yes it was.
You merely stated the difference in tech which i dont care. Israel also has nukes but never bothered exploding one. It was more poltical and strategic one from India - call out Pakistans bluff and declare yourself as a super power ... only Pakistan followed up to its promise. I can’t think of a better opportunity for Pak to ever test overtly and gain parity with India in 98.

Anyway the main point of my post was that your interpretation of these tests by Pak is quite simplistic; your argument boils down to this: Pakistans programs are a show off and the tech is not ready or mature/ fake and everything declared publicly is whats really all there and nothing else. But if you really had researched Paks strategic programs, as you claimed, you would know that its the opposite thats true. Pakistan only publicly declares its programs when its fully tested. Only ready systems and successes are shown publicly. All these are of course are tweaked with what India is doing so a strategic balance is maintained, and message is conveyed to Indian decision makers. Hence you see some coorelations in the various tests. For example, from what I can recall, Raad was shown to be tested once with Mirages at 300 some Kms. Rest of the development kept ongoing and we only found out about Raad 2 with 600 km range ( i think) when it was shown in a 23rd march parade on a truck! Same with other conventional systems like ly80 SAMs

Preposterous

Pakistan carried out series of cold tests throughout the 1980s. There are neutral claims that assert that one of the Chinese nuclear tests was a Pakistani device ( a claim officially denied by Pakistan) At any rate, Pakistan had the nukes by early 1980s around ~1984. It did not test due to American pressure. It’s a well known fact that congress required the White House to certify that Pakistan wasn’t making nuclear weapons each year. This was contingent to Pakistan receiving American weapons such as F-16s etc. why would Pakistan test nuclear weapons in such a situation and shoot itself in the foot? Especially when the soviets were occupying Afghanistan next door, a war Pakistan was involved in? Your post is utterly ignorant on multiple levels

Pakistan tested nuclear weapons in 1998 because a historic opportunity was presented to it. Even then, there were many credible voices speaking against the tests...including those within the cabinet of Nawaz Sharif. It was certainly not an easy decision.

Pakistan first tested Babur Cruise Misssile when India refused to include cruise missiles in the preflight notification warning that was in place of the ballistic missiles assuming that Pakistan had no access to cruise missiles. Soon after Pakistan tested cruise missiles. Your country is yet to match Pakistan in the stealth subsonic cruise missile category. India only has access to Russian Brahamos cruise missiles even though more than a decade has passed since Pakistan’s Babur Cruise Missile tests.

Get your head out of your rear-end, kid.
