ISLAMABAD - Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov called on Minister for Defence Production Zobaida Jalal in Rawalpindi today.

We can sell our defence weapons to CARs and these Uzbeks and Tajiks of Tajikistan can be a good start for it. We do need influence in these two countries for long term regional interests and stability.

Last year, Uzbekistan has announced the creation of a State Committee for the Defence Industry with responsibility for unifying policies relating to the organisation of the national military industrial complex and state defence orders.

Uzbekistan is the most populous country in its region and has a very successful resistance against US penetration activities. Moreover, it has a very important geopolitical position, including the Fergana region.

As a natural consequence, Uzbekistan's move on the development of ongoing local defense industries is a necessity for the country's position.

Regretfully, I see that most Pakistani brothers are looking at the nature of these bilateral relations from the wrong perspective. We must not evaluate these type relationships within the framework of final product and cash earnings. This understanding serves no purpose other than to service us to the hegemony of the present global system. We should build the future. It is the responsibility of our children, not of us, to sum up their results.
