Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said that Pakistan and United States have agreed to hold dialogue on cooperation in civil nuclear technology.
The finance minister met with American trade delegation headed by Elizabeth Little in Islamabad.
Later, the minister told media that the US delegation has expressed willingness to invest in bio-energy sector in Pakistan to overcome power crisis.
He said transfer of technology is major impediment in the way of bilateral cooperation between both countries.
Ishaq Dar said Pakistan is an attractive country for investment. He said resolving energy crisis of the country is the PML-N government's first priority. He said we want to promote trade with open mind.
On the occasion, Elizabeth Little said that United States will enhance cooperation with Pakistan to boost power generation through wind, bio-gas and through alternative ways.

Pakistan, US agree to discuss civil nuclear technology: Ishaq Dar

We already got civil nuclear technology it from China why need it from states?

At what terms? We all know US was always reluctant from this deal so what have suddenly changed now?

Nothing has changed. Your minister has said just one sentence. The U.S. simply can't give anything on the likes of what India received and won't even try.

I'm guessing Mr. Dar has problems understanding English.

Those darn Americans and their English language.... :laughcry:

haan World bank aur USA Ishaq Dar ka mama chacha taya lagtay haina isay banda poochay oye ****** ***** ye bata kya deal sign karkay ye kuch lay rahay ho lag pata jayega is koom ko!

Lets be honest, US is giving us a lollypop because it has realized how strongly china has influenced us and how nawaz sharif is a strong ally and a backer of China when it comes to defence and economy and we have seen exactly that in the last 40 days of his term. US wants a piece of cake too and the only way they can do this is if they give pakistan a lollypop and hope to buy few sell outs from paks bureaucracy.

Just a tactic to delay Iran-Pakistan gas line nothing more , and force us to take more IMF loan and cripple our economy

And then put pressure on us to focus on the "OTHER PIPELINE" :ashamed:

BIO FUEL = COW DUNG or making oil from Crops by chemical processes

And who would deal with sanctions? Remember the restrictions on F16 Block 52's? and how would we deal with their right to inspect/enter such premises? Why tie a noose around own neck? China is good enough for us.

For now, lets just say we want both. It would be good for us to seek technology from 2 superpowers.

No discussion on civil nuclear technology with Pakistan: US

The United States has flatly denied it had discussed the possibility of civil nuclear energy cooperation with Pakistan, but said it was supportive of Islamabad's efforts with its energy problems.
"We'd seen those rumours, but I can confirm there was no discussion of civilian nuclear technology," State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell told reporters Wednesday when asked about such reports from Islamabad citing official source.
"For further discussions, I'd direct you to the Government of Pakistan and Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), which is a government agency on our side. But there was no discussion of civil nuclear technology," he said.
Asked if the US was considering that (nuclear energy) as an option to address Pakistan's energy situation, Ventrell repeated: "Again, I confirm - can confirm there was no discussion of it here.”
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said at a briefing in Islamabad on Tuesday that Pakistan and the US had agreed in principle to continue dialogue on cooperation in civil nuclear technology.
Dar made these remarks after a meeting with the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation president Elizabeth Littlefield.
State Department, spokesman Patrick Ventrell welcomed Pakistan’s interest in buying electricity from India, saying that “anything that improves relations between India and Pakistan is a good thing” and it includes (cooperation) in the energy sector as well.
Pakistan has been urging the United States for some time to conclude a deal for civil nuclear technology similar to the one finalised with India. Washington, however, has been reluctant to do so due to concerns linked to the proliferation.
