ISLAMABAD, Aug 16 (APP): After successful launch of communication satellite Paksat-IR, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) now plans to launch high resolution Remote Sensing Satellite System (RSSS), in 2014, to meet the national and international user requirements in the field of satellite imagery. RSSS will be a progressive and sustainable programme.Initially, SUPARCO plans to launch an optical satellite with payload of 2.5 meter PAN in 700 km sun-synchronous orbit by the end of year 2011, which will be followed by a series of optical and SAR satellites in future.

Giving further details, Secretary SUPARCO Arshad H Siraj said it will be helpful in exploiting the potentials of space technologies for natural resource surveying and environmental monitoring.

RSSS will also be significant in executing application projects of national significance, transfer technology to users in public and private sectors as remote sensing along with its allied technologies has become an industry in itself.

He said SUPARCO is the pioneer in introducing these technologies in Pakistan using Satellite Remote Sensing techniques.
He was of the view that RSSS will also be helpful in improving agriculture of the country, water resources, ennvironment and other such issues.

SUPARCO aims to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country by demonstrating the potential of space technologies for natural resources surveying and environment monitoring, he added.
Pakistan entered the space age with the formal launching of a second hand purchased Paksat-I in January 2003.

“Since then our scientists and engineers had been making endeavours to launch indigenous satellite and ensure country’s permanent presence in the space”.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan launched communication satellite Paksat-IR few days back, which has 30 transponders, design life of 15 years and will provide TV broadcasting, Internet and data communications services in South and Central Asia, Eastern Europe, East Africa and the Far East.

Replying to a question, Secretary SUPARCO said, under the vision 2040 of Pakistan’s Space programme, many more satellites will be launched, which will help to improve socio-economic condition of the country.

As far as launch of spaceship is concerned,he said, no such planning is in consideration, and focus is to launch more communication satellites.

A design life of 15 years!!!

Isn't that more than normal ?

Shouldnt it be China to launch to Pakistan satellite rather then the thread title?

Poor english from the Islamabad journalist, as Pakistan dont have the capability to launch anything as of yet.

Do we smell something burning? I think we do!
Pakistan would be getting the technology by 2014, the estimated date by SUPARCO, before starting to work on SLV.
PAKSAT 1R was supposed to be completed in 2012. Pakistan always has been doing the development faster than estimated dates ;)

yes, the RSSS to be lauched in 2014.
however, please note that there is a conflicting statement in this speech. as marked above in red, the Optical Satellite with 2.5m PAN load is actually the RSSS being developed.
the point of mentioning 2014 is perhaps a hint to further projects where a network will be formed for proper working,

the topic is already under discussion at http://www.defence.pk/forums/wmd-mi...ing-satellite-system-prsss-2.html#post2030428 it is clear the the RSSS in discussion is an experimental first model and will also be equipped with an experimental SAR.
this wont be enough for proper navigation coverage and is planned to be followed with more RSSS and SAR satellites for achieving the desired results. i dont know as yet if work is going on on some other satellites as well but will surely check. there must be some that are being referred as to be launched in 2014.
for the existing RSSS the launch is in 2011 as confirmed in above statement as well as by my link.

will check and update!

as we have discussed on old thread:
regards!

Why would China give you the technology, it will just make them lose money, they will be able to launch many more Pakistan satellite for a cheap price.

To say Pakistan will have the technology to launch satellites in 3 years time, is the joke of the year, considering Pakistan cant even make a helicopter on its own first of all.

It has been under development.. Sorry to shatter your wet dreams.

Good for you sir.

just simple qes why don't you guys think positive abut pakistan ?. if you comment on a place were thousands of pakistanis read you .these tom jerry wars show readers how much hate is there in hearts. you know if news was for india 2014 you all guys jump and dance here .i hope you guys think before add post .

again your hate and BP out of control lolz .pakistan can't make helicopter is UTTER BULL ***** you know why because we need limited force of helicopter mr.hater .we can buy it easly and we have fleet of them .just before you bash think once if you need a pistol for home security you start make in home or go market buy it? pakistani need of 350-400 helicopters is well so we have to invest billions on it for what?as your brain is made in india nothing positive for pakistan can install in it i will told you Pakistan can make whatever but its matter of needs funds and interests .now move your face from here as your dirty hate already make thread harm.

BTW if china launch it it will never work or it will failed as indian? we have no problem for china launch so no one should feel pain in his back as we are happy and PAKSAT-1R is on duty now in ORBIT .

i Think your Dad Didnt Told You About Sonmiani space facility , which was the 1st space research and launch center in South Asia in 1962 after that cz of unstable political conditions and cz of our atomic program and sanctions our space program was slowed down too much but now we going to to track :pakistan:

Sonmiani Satellite Launch Center (spaceport) approximately 145 kilometres northwest of Karachi, Pakistan. The facility became operational in the late of 1962. Sonmiani Satellite Launch Center was planned and constructed by U.S.'s space agency, NASA in the early 1962s when a team of NASA's engineers visited Pakistan.
Sonmiani Satellite Launch Center was extensivily used by NASA to conduct research in Space and rocket technology. Sonmiani Satellite Launch Center was South Asia's first space research center and launch facility.[citation needed]
The area hosts a 2 square kilometre flight test range and that has been operated since 1962 by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). In 1980s, when Pakistan began to pursue space technology. During 1990s, the facility was expanded and modernized. In 2000s, the facility was equipped by SUPARCO as the organization installed the high-tech computer and a modernized electrical technology.

Hey im just stating that Pakistan wont be able to launch a satellite in 3.5 years let alone 5 years.

Only several nations in the world can launch satellites only.
