What's new

Pakistan: The New Egypt on the Indus

A contrarian view...

Egypt: The new Pakistan on the Nile

As Gen. Sissi taking over the reign in Egypt was many decades behind the new normal in Pakistan, the Army rule.

The reason Egypt is not in that abysmal, in freefall and in a tailspin position as Pakistan and doing well, relatively.
It is funny how these analogies go. Some are calling Egypt as the new Lebanon.

May be there is no need for analogies. Lebanon, Egypt and Pakistan are three Brothers Karamazov.

Yes this is churlishly true,

It's a small world, many similarities and drawing parallel analogies are quite normal.

Have to agree.

Asim has managed things until now when you see through the prism of the institution. He has managed to find a way to stifle the most popular political party. Found a way to flaunt the SC verdict of holding elections.

Also got rid of PDM and now has a proper cuck to do his bidding. All this while keeping some sort of decorum within the army.

He should look to consolidate further by replacing any miscreants within the bureaucracy and consolidate the army’s businesses.

A bit of a paradox at the expense of Pakistan.

Lets see what the future holds.

I see the Army coming out ahead. What is in for Pakistanis ?

The real face of Egypt is completely different

Egypt has corruption related to the army's control of the economy due to the desire of some for their corruption and personal interests, but Egypt as a country cannot fall or its economy will deteriorate for a long time for various reasons, despite the debts.
But there are actually investments in infrastructure worth 500 billion dollars that will eventually result in returns and profits
The strategic location of Egypt and development of Murad sectors such as the Suez Canal Economic Zone
Egypt attracted investments worth 100 billion dollars in energy during the last 9 months
There is growth in sectors such as tourism
The growth of exports is limited, but there is a suppression of the import process as well

Despite all the corruption
The bounties of the Egyptian state are rich
The properties of the Ministry of Awqaf alone are 100 billion dollars
The army manages an investment portfolio of between 50-100 billion dollars, which it will be forced to return to the state
Egypt has reserves between 40-70 billion dollars outside the reserves of the Egyptian Central Bank
Egypt has 98 gold mines, minerals such as black sand, and many ores, phosphate rock, a unit of 8 billion tons.

Egypt has badly managed economic agencies, but it can provide it with good resources through good management, similar to the state's economic agencies
Like banks, oil companies, public business sector companies, EgyptAir, removing corruption from them is a guarantee that they will return to profits
The current economic crisis has reduced imports and is an encouraging factor for domestic production
The president and the army are forced to solve problems and reduce corruption, otherwise the revolution will overthrow them and send them back to prisons, and this crisis will eventually result in the army getting out of control of the economy after its strategic failure.
Egypt is not comparable to Pakistan because Egypt's ability to recover is faster than any other country
The current corruption is related to the ruling system. Once it is removed, Egypt can easily compensate for its losses

Is their economy strong? How are they frequently constructing large megaprojects, even their army is quite large

No there is problems in their economy and are getting hit with post-COVID inflation, however they make use of their aid money and are competent with it.

Unlike Pakistan Army, where they hype up megaprojects to no fruition and use aid money for Papa John's franchises overseas.

Corruption is in every country, but how competent and willing you are to get things done is what makes a crucial difference. That's why a country with a political system similar to Pakistan's (minus the hybrid masala) is able to do development and see gradual change and improvement over the span of a decade.

It is also why Egypt can make deals with Russia, while Pakistan does tatti over a cypher.

What does that mean? Tourism revenue?

Yeah

Oh that's all they did, how many faujis, leave alone chor commanders did they kill?

Too bad they didn't burn your mecca AKA GHQ down, which they should have done.

Any other state is not a fascist state killing, kidnapping and subjugating its own people. Sepoys of GHQ have been doing it with impunity since early 50's. And if the people burned room or two in a lousy chor commander house all hell broke lose...

Yeah Pakistanis will get to eat roti twice a day and have shelter over their heads...something sepoys are doing their best to take away.
How many were killed when trump supporters invaded the white house ? And yet many were sentenced. What makes your lot exceptional ?

Yeah? Is this the narrative fed you by your Fouji boyfriends?

Why don't Fouji cucks like you don't talk about the Cipher, which has proven to be atleast somewhat of a truth and all that time IK was RIGHT

Who tf gave Military the right to dislodge a democratic elected govt or even a remote interference in Politics? That's treason.

Pakistan was certainly many times better during IK tenure then whatever the shit show is going on rn but you CUCKS will never talk about it.
I didn't abuse you, as for cuck, ain't that what you guys are known for? Literally even guy cucked by IK is supporting him lol.

Get in line, or you a regular at one of the disco jalsas?

We should tag the Egyptian members of the forum to get their opinion, since they would know more about Egyptian political dynamics.

@The SC @Gomig-21 @Ghostkiller @sami_1 @Ramses Akhenaten Ahmose

Does the article correctly make the analogy of Pakistan being a "new Egypt"?

I think the only acceptable analogy is the power of the military to basically be the deciding factor in the political arena of each country. Perhaps the other similarities would be the financial debts as a result of all the mega projects being funded by foreign investments and the importance of keeping those investors. But I'm not familiar with the internal makings of Pakistan's development as far as comparable infrastructure and such mega projects that Egypt is undertaking.

For example, the new administrative capital is a massive project that has required an exorbitant amount of money to complete. There is also the Dabaa nuclear power plant that Russia is building which is also a huge monetary investment along with some of the other things the posted articles mention such as the eventual longest driverless monorail in the world being built and many other project that have been completed already. Amongst those are the Suez Canal expansion (which was completed about 8 years ago and allowed for better and more efficient flow of ships, hence increasing profits) along with the Ismailiyah tunnel etc.

So looking at all of those, I can't compare them with similar projects that Pakistan is undertaking AND how much influence and control does the Pakistan military have in these projects? Do they control most of them like Egypt's military? This is all simply because of my ignorance of what is going on in Pakistan and if they are similar? Does Pakistan have similar debt as Egypt? All that stuff I really don't know to say it's an accurate analogy.

But the military strength and influence in the political arena seems to be quite similar. I would certainly give you that.

The major difference, of course, is Imran Khan doesn't have the same connection with the military junta as Sisi does. Sisi, being a career military man saw to it that he had the utmost loyalty from the military. He went from being a member of the anti-tank infantry battalion to studying at the United States Army College in PA to the chief of staff of the supreme council (SCAF) and then the minister of defense. So his military background and connections have served him very well with regards to obtaining the loyalty of the military, not to mention pumping in A LOT of money into all the air force, navy and army in the rapid and extreme modernization of the armed forces.

But I always admired Imrah Khan and his charisma and journey from the superstar cricket player to prime minister of Pakistan without the help of the army. That takes a lot of admirable strength, dedication and effort. He is so well spoken and a natural leader it's a shame what happened.

The bounties of the Egyptian state are rich

Egypt has 98 gold mines, minerals such as black sand, and many ores, phosphate rock, a unit of 8 billion tons.

Don't forget all the discovered (and yet to be discovered and tapped into) gas reserves in the Mediterranean. Add also the recent uranium discoveries that hopefully they'll make good use of.

The current economic crisis has reduced imports and is an encouraging factor for domestic production

Which might be a blessing in disguise. This could very well put a little more pressure on the military to give up control in certain sectors of the economy, particularly farms, textiles and fisheries.

The president and the army are forced to solve problems and reduce corruption, otherwise the revolution will overthrow them and send them back to prisons, and this crisis will eventually result in the army getting out of control of the economy after its strategic failure.

Presidential election in 2024 and how respective "parties" handle it could be the deciding factor IMHO.

Punjab spilled blood too which shouldn't go unremembered, there were massive communal massacres and riots
They didn't exactly spill blood for a noble or worthy cause. Those communal riots were meaningless bloodshed, to glorify them (like most Pakistanis do) is despicable.

Not 'No'. 'Yes'.
There is no more room for errors. Last favors from foreign powers have been given to avoid a 'default'. An abyss awaits Pakistan unless drastic steps are taken. And hence the very strictly controlled 'Hybrid' model is emerging in which the PPP and the Noonies are also being largely marginalized!! The 'Project Imran' failed specatularly and the blame lies with the military above all for that. They and Nawaz had yet another conflict in mid 2010s and Imran was brought in but the didn't realize the 'Dimmy' part of the 'Immy'. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. The Generals responsible for that screw up should be in a prison cell next to Imran right now but we know that won't happen.

You do know the general responsible for what you say is the current COAS as well? Right? Right?
