Pakistan stops Panter production

Great stuff!

Is Firtina a totally Turkish design and production? It looks similar to the German SPH. I dont know its name but I have seen its pictures. I think its PzH 2000.

I believe you are thinking of Fatih howitzer, it was a failed project, visually similar to PzH 2000.

Aselsan is upgrading Panter towed howitzers at present. After upgrading, It is going to be much more effective/lower weight howitzer system. Maybe, Pakistan agreed to wait complation of upgradings to apply Pakistani produced Panters ?

Number of Panter Guns were provided by Turkey for test and trial purposes only, just as with Chinese J-7,J-10
and lately L-15.

Production of T155 Panter towed howitzers are stopped at number of 41, While continuing to produce Firtina SPH. The number of produced Firtinas exceeds 300 at present. The Turkish land forces prefer mobility against towed systems. At present, Panter howitzers are in modernization phase which mechanical and hydrolic systems will be redesigned and Gun/Firing systems will be more electronically controlled. To enhance mobility/effectiveness of Firtina, Munition resupply vehicle called Poyraz is developed. At present, Winter trials of Poyraz passed succesfully and Production order is given for them as well.

Is the supplier-loader vehicle based on the Korean K10?

No, It is completely seperate project than Korea. Loading mechanism of vehicle is developed seperately by Aselsan worth million $. If you pay attention to designs, You will see they are not even similar.

During development phase of Firtina howitzers in 2000's, Turkey received ToT from Korea on some subsystems such as gun/chassisdesign/ suspension (Turret is solely designed by Turkish engineers) and Today, T-155 Firtina vehicles are being manufactured with %80+ national contributions(Engine+transmission is only outsourced) . From thermals, to wheels, tracks, turret, chassis, guns are manufactured solely by Turkish defence industry and Korea doesn't have a saying over T-155 Firtina vehicles on export markets, except refusing to sell subsystems (If available at present because Turkey spend serious money to originalize foreign supplied parts of T-155 Firtina since the beggining of production).

Recent years, Turkey agreed Azerbaijan to export 36+ T-155 Firtina howitzers but Germany refused to sell MTU engines on Firtina to our brother Azerbaijan. Turkish industry took action and replaced German engine with an unknown foreign equivalent. Project is delayed a bit but It is being prepared to deliver howitzers to Azerbaijan at present.

Impressive. What about rocket artillery in Turkish army? There were reports of Turkey working on a 200 km range system.
