This missile (or was it C802?) could not take out small Israeli ship in 2008 when Hezbollah struck Israeli Naval Ship with C-602/802 etc.

Not that good.

C-602 is a massive missile with massive warhead, nothing similar to the one shot by hizbu...

Hezbollah shot C-602 or C-802..but definitely one of two.

Look it up.

Btw, is this the second batch of 120 missiles that has been delivered? There was report of 120 delivered around 2009 if I remember correctly.

Where did you hear this?

PS, is C-602 superior to C-802?

Reports that I remember I read that time. C-602 is WAY superior to C-802, it's export version is ~280-290 km range with a massive 300kg warhead to cripple large ships. We are deploying them as coastal defence batteries.

Congratulations to Pakistan!!!
Any idea about the numbers??

PakDef is reporting it as recent delivery. Now what is not clear is whether it's a second batch or the order was placed in 2009 and now the deliveries are being made.

Don't think deliveries for 120 missiles would take this much time.. 09-14? Probably another batch..

C-802 is capable missile. USA was afraid of Iranian C-802 threat when they were talking about naval strike on Iran. There must be something went wrong with one used by Hzblh.

Not a very capable missile, an Israeli ship INS Hanit (small corvette 1300 Tons) was hit by it when Hisbulla fired one in 2006 and survived to be repaired, an anti ship missile should effectively sink.

Not true not all missiles sink the target, as long as it renders it immobile that is just as good, the purpose is to keep the ship from doing you damage.

It was C-802.

News reports indicate that this was the missile used on July 14, 2006, in the 2006 Lebanon War when Hezbollah fired two C-802 at Israeli warships. One missile hit the corvette INS Hanit, causing significant damage and four fatalities. Iran, the reported supplier of the missile to Hezbollah, refused to formally confirm or deny the claim. The Hanit suffered severe damage, but stayed afloat, got itself out of the line of fire, and made the rest of the journey back to Ashdod for repairs on its own.

The Israeli ship possessed sophisticated multi-layered missile defense capability: a Phalanx CIWS gun, Barak 1 anti-missile missiles, Chaff and ECM. These should have been able to prevent an anti-ship missile attack such as the YJ-82, but according to the Israeli military, these were intentionally disabled at the time of the alleged missile hit due to:
  • a lack of intelligence indicating Hezbollah possessed such a missile; and
  • the presence of many Israeli Air Force aircraft conducting operations in the vicinity of the ship which might have accidentally set off the ship's anti-missile/aerial threats system, with the danger of shooting down a friendly aircraft. However, the ship has an (optionally installed, especially during wartime) Identification friend or foe interrogator system to prevent attacking friendly aircraft.
