Pakistan must manufacture it's own heli. I say this because we have seen how helis have played an important role in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. We have also seen how we have suffered due to a lack of helis in operations against terrorists.

Pakistanis have tons of money stacked away in foreign banks, if proper incentives are given then this money can be brought back home and be beneficial to Pakistan and the investors.

INCENTIVE/ BUSINESS CASE:

CIVILIAN: Minimum of 60 helis are required for media, medical transport, pleasure, construction and immediate disaster relief (NGO).

GOVT: Minimum of 200 helis are required for VIP transport, police work, medical transport, pleasure, construction and long term and short term disaster relief.

MILITARY: Minimum of 800 helis are required for military purposes.

EXPORT: This is the bonus!! Africa, ME are available.

All above estimates are based on 10 yrs requirements. THis is such a huge opportunity to ignore. Hard work is required but this is achievable.

Set up a consortium of Pakistanis who would like to invest in helicopter industry in Pakistan and then invite Turkish, Russian and Chinese partners to join.

Why would the above mentioned countries allow this to happen when their own businesses will be at risk? This is where we will need a sincere govt. which can convince these countries that such deal will benefit all parties involved and Pakistan can procure other items from their exporters and we can certainly offer them other benefits as well.

Once a Licence is given and the set up of consortium is complete then we can set up an industry in the South West of Baluchistan. This will also help Baluch youth and will also help setting up iron ore industry and steel manufacturing.

Your thoughts?

well first the iron ore industry will provide employment,
we have this,if its final design is good then the PAC Karma can modify it to carry air to groung missile and rockets, and can also attach a 20mm cannon, this way it can be a one man killing machine, and its small size i think that can even make it hard to detect
but this would only can be used as attack heli for the military, cant be used as an airambulance etc

Main principle of helicopters have not changed , since it was created
What we lack is the engine , since in Pakistan , we have sold out our Auto Industry , and normally engine research and development is done in that sector.

Engineering wise we lack behind be case we do not have the know how to create an engine , which could carry "load"

Now , the video demonstrates that yes a locally assembled perhaps engineered helicopter could fly but , a Professional Helicopter not only has to sustain weight of 1 pilot they are normally designed to lift 1-2 Tons of weight

The Body of helicopter , the pilots, and the rescue passengers

But I think its a wonderful moment for Local Pakistanis to take interest in development of Helicopter

Is it doable YES

I mean look at Iran - as example , they manufacture their own helicopters and engines, why becasue they have a auto , manufacturing so it was relatively easy for them to reverse engineer Bell engines.

Pakistan needs

a) Helicopters 100 civilian /police, 200-300 Military , 100 rescue / border patrol crafts

An F16 cannot airlift a stranded old man on his roof toop , or F16 cannot drop water and food supplies to injured soliders on top of a hill top

b) Similarly we lack large Transport planes - C130 class , or Mid size in numbers to be able to transport 10,000-20,000 troops

:argh: Our Army is old fashioned they walk and get on train or bus to get to places ... the world is fast now ... modern armies move 40,000-50,000 troops from Continental USA to world wide locations , and we can't even move them across provinces :disagree:

we really need to manufacture our own heli

if we fund the project i mean the helicopter shown in the video than we can make atleast something comaparable to Dhruv in 5-7 years
and after this a indegenous attack chopper by 2018-20..

we need to invest atleast 100millions in th R&D of heli
i am damn sure we are capable enough to build our own heli

designing and fabrication of a helicopter engine is much easier than for a fighter. We should hand over this task to NDC.

we dont need helicopters...we need cheap shoulder-held SAM's such as ANZA that can be issued to civilians in an event of invasion/occupation.....similarly a tank is not the answer to tank offensive but mines and cheap portable anti-tank missiles that can be issued to civilians in border towns on short notice:agree:

this thing....
this is nothing but a gyrocopter not a helicopter..

seriously... funny stuff..
this does not have powerful enough engines to carrry any missile

We just tried to make one.
In Sha Allah with time, we will focus on Military Aviation.
Nothing is too big for us, if we can make JF-17, F22p and Al-Khalid, choppers are like a piece of cake. :)

Umm
JF-17 research was done in China..F-22P are even made in China ..
Al Khalid is also derived from Chinese tanks.
So perhaps you can ask your chinese friends to transfer some helis..
They would be more than happy to do so

Pakistan doesn't have:

Resources
Fund
Research and Developments (require billion dollars regularly)
Conflict with JFT projects busy.

Pakistan is in contract with Turkey (T129), China (Z10), US (SuperCobra), Pakistan made-local Helicopter (from college students) will not accept from Pakistan Army.

Money should goes to education system, health care, improving lifetsyles and electricity as per Aamir Zia suggest

well this is the only thing we have closest to a helicopter, still what we see in the video is just a skeleton, not the real thing, which we can hope Inshallah will be alot better
