Mafhoom: Or dushman kay muqablay main apnay ghoray tayar rakho. Is sy tumharay dushamnon kay dilon pe khof rahay ga. Un dushmanon kay dilon pe bhi jinhe tum jantay ho or un pe bhi jinhe tum nahi jantay lekin Allah janta hy.

Well Done Pak Army. Purchase as many weapons as you can and increase depth and stamina in your capabilities.

Yes, keep purchasing weapons. Improving basic living conditions of the population is for pussies. It's better to eat grass than drop back in the all important arms race.
Same applies at India 150 billion going to spend instead of feeding the Nation with largest poorest population.

6 launchers make no sense. It is probably 6 systems. If yo have seen HQ16 then you would see that it consists of one mobile launcher and one targeting radar.

LOMADS means Low-To-Medium-Altitude Air Defense System which means batteries and NOT launchers. 9 batteries have been purchased (till the end of financial year 2014-15).

A battery of the HQ-16 consists of four launcher vehicles, command post, two radar vehicles, missile transport and reloading vehicles, power supply vehicles and so on. Most of them are based on the same 6x6 high mobility chassis.

Which Russian high altitude airdefence under consideration

Is Pakistan also interested buying PANTSIR S 2 AIRDEFENCE too

We need good layers of airdefence systems

In November 2014, Janes reported:

A military diplomatic source in Moscow told IHS Jane's that Pakistan is also interested in buying a batch of Mi-28NE 'Havoc' attack helicopters and that a Russian delegation is preparing to present data on the Mi-28NE as well as the Pantsir-S1 (SA-22), Tor-M2KM (SA-15), and Buk-M2 (SA-17) surface-to-air missile systems to Pakistani officials at the forthcoming International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2014 in Karachi.

In April 2016, Sputnik reported:

"We are in touch with Russia on different types of weapons such as helicopters, we are even considering the Russian air defense system and advanced tanks. We are also exploring possibility to update and modernize our Air Force," Asif said on the sidelines of the fifth Moscow Conference on International Security.

So, HQ-9 is not the only option being considered. @Quwa can shed more light on this.

HQ-16
Medium-range air defense missile system

The HQ-16 is a Chinese equivalent of the Russian Buk

Entered service ?
Missile
Missile length 5 m
Missile diameter 0.34 m
Missile weight 615 kg
Warhead weight ?
Warhead type HE-FRAG
Maximum range of fire 40 km
Maximum altitude of fire 18 km
Number of targets engaged simultaneously ?

The Hong Qi 16 or HQ-16 is a Chinese medium-range air defense missile system. It is based on the Soviet Shtil naval air defense system, which in turn is a version of the Buk. So the HQ-16 can be seen as a Chinese improved equivalent of the Buk. Some sources report that is had been adopted in the mid 1990s. Currently the HQ-16 is being widely used by the Chinese armed forces.

Even though HQ-16 uses Buk technology, it has some significant differences. Launchers of the Chinese SAM system are based on 6x6 high mobility truck rather than a tracked chassis. However radar is carried by another truck. Missiles are store in containers and are launched vertically.

In Chinese armed forces the HQ-16 fits the gap between the short-range HQ-7 and medium- to long rande HQ-9. This air defense system is mainly used to protect stationary assets such as airfields, command posts, concentration of troops, bridges, and other important targets.

Missile of the HQ-16 evolved from the Soviet 9M38 missile, used by the Buk. However the Chinese missile is more capable than its predecessor.

The HQ-16 has a maximum range against aircraft of 40 km. It can engage cruise missiles at a range of 3.5 to 18 km. This air defense system can engage very low flying and high altitude targets. It can reach targets at an altitude of up to 18 km. Claimed hit probability of an aircraft with a single missile is 85%. Hit probability of a cruise missile is 60%.

The HQ-16 launcher is based on Taian TA5350 6x6 special wheeled chassis. The TEL carries 6 containers with missiles. Missiles are launcher vertically. Two missiles can be launched within a short period of time.

A battery of the HQ-16 consists of four launcher vehicles, command post, two radar vehicles, missile transport and reloading vehicles, power supply vehicles and so on. Most of them are based on the same 6x6 high mobility chassis.

The radar detects enemy aircraft at a range of 140 km and altitude of 20 km. The radar can detect up to 144 and track up to 48 targets simultaneously.

Variants

HQ-16A is an improved version that uses improved missile with slightly better performance;

LY-80 is an export version of the HQ-16A. It incorporates cold vertical launch method. It was first presented and is being proposed since 2011;

HQ-16B is a further improved version.

Looks like entire border will be provided SAM coverage to counter any aerial intrusion including UAV's, this can also provide coverage to forward army formations.

Given the aircraft crunch PAF is currently going through, the purchase of SAM systems will be a stop-gap measure until new aircraft arrive.

SAMs are being procured to reduce the threat Su-30MKI poses.. PAF has no equivalent 4.5 gen aircraft..

That is truly a great news. Now PD should concentrate on acquiring long range air defence system.

Pakistan has purchased six more batteries of the China Aerospace Long-March International LY-80 surface-to-air missile system for US $373.23 million in the financial year 2014-15, MoDP reports in its Year Book 2014-15.
In the financial year 2013-14, three batteries of LY-80 SAM system were purchased for US $225.770 million, with eight units of the IBIS-150 air defense surveillance radar for $40 million, MoDP reported in its Year Book 2013-14.
What about Pakistan's Missile interceptor and missile defence arrangements against Indian Surface, Air and Sea launching missiles.
