What's new

India deploys MR-SAM near northwestern borders with Pakistan

This is the newest air defence God after S400 and SU-30 were left naked by PAF?

Afaik it's Indian made Barak-8
Our contribution was the dual pulse rocket motor, its thrust vector controls, and electrical harness (wiring) while their contribution was airframe and electronics/seeker

These SAMs are must for any country
Hope Pakistan gets its act right and fast track indigenous SAM development.

To be honest & realistic the only thing we need to worry about are trigger happy morons in the Indian Military that in the spur of the moment - seem to fire stuff with their sweaty hands.

Sorry if that brings bad memory of those 7 jawans shot down in the Mi-17.

There was also the Brahmos incident. Funny thing, I haven't heard any other country to have such a high-level of f-ups.

What, is it Election Year already?

O goodie. I suppose Hunting Season for PAF is 'round the corner...
Just like they hunted in kargil lol.

US patriot batteries locked on their own aircraft several times during the iraq war and gulf war. PAF destroyed PNS Zulfiqar in a friendly fire incident

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed an air-defence system known as the medium-range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) near India's northwestern borders with Pakistan, an IAF source told Janes on 9 October .

The MRSAM – which is the domestic variant of the Indo-Israeli developed Barak-8 SAM system – is deployed at Air Force Station (AFS) Adampur in Jalandhar district, Punjab, the source added.

AFS Adampur is located nearly 100 km from the India-Pakistan border and is home to the IAF's 8 Wing, which is responsible for air defence.

The 8 Wing consists of No 47 and No 223 squadrons, which are primarily equipped with MiG-29UPG ‘Fulcrum' fighter aircraft.

In 2021 the IAF also deployed the Russian S-400 Triumf self-propelled SAM system at AFS Adampur.

The IAF began inducting MRSAM in September 2021, when the system was deployed at AFS Jaisalmer.

Janes reported at the time that the IAF plans to initially raise nine MRSAM squadrons comprising 24 MRSAM batteries – also referred to as firing units (FUs) – and a total of 2,000 Barak-8 missiles.

Apart from the IAF, the Indian Army raised its first MRSAM regiment in February along the line of actual control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh to provide air defence against Chinese aerial threats such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), fighter aircraft, and cruise missiles.

A naval variant of the MRSAM system was earlier deployed on a few front-line Indian Navy warships. In March the Indian Navy also conducted its maiden MRSAM firing from INS Mormugao .

So what about Kargil ??? All the fighting took place on the Indian side of LOC , Pakistan Army intruded , so what stopped India attacking targets on Pakistani side.

Get your facts right before jumping into the conversation. You are comparing a minor skirmish with full blown wars. As for PNS destroyed ..Lol....one strafing run in the middle of ocean keeping in mind what capability existed 50 years earlier. Now compare that with confusing a fast jet with a slow moving chopper flying almost overhead .
