What's new

Pak Army has allowed U.S. military presence in Quetta!

This is what happens when you take aid from someone superior then you.

you eventually become a prostitute.

as far as i can see these are only advisors. A few guys here and there is not a big deal. people need to calm down.

Sadly some people are incapable of calming down, meerly mention the US and they start foaming at the mouth and ranting death to america.

You have two armies both opperating against hostiles in close proximity, to not have a military presence in each others camp to improve comunication and cooperation would be madness.

Pakistan has a right to be kept informed of the opperations of Nato/US forces along the border both to avoid misunderstandings and to allow them to better plan their own opperations. That needs people face to face comunicating on a daily basis not just an occasional emailed briefing paper.

completely agree with Vassnti. Coordination is key there are a lot of pakistani military officials studying in the US heck the IG FC was at centcom for some years coordinating operations. this is just ignorant hyper nationalism

I think we shouldn't jump to conclusions on such baseless pieces of news that come in everyday. Their sole purpose is to not only demoralize the Pakistani people but also create a hatred in their hearts towards their own country.

Pakistani government as well the ISPR have categorically stated numerous times that they will not allow any American presence or even drone strikes for that matter in Balochistan. In fact the government and along with the army are preparing to put an end to the Drone strikes in NW as well. Be optimistic guys and think rationally.

1. (S) Summary: The Pakistani Army has for just the second time approved deployment of U.S. special operation elements to support Pakistani military operations. The first deployment, with SOC(FWD)-PAK elements embedded with the Frontier Corps in XXXXXXXXXXXX, occurred in September (reftel). Previously, the Pakistani military leadership adamantly opposed letting us embed our special operations personnel with their military forces. The developments of the past two months thus appear to represent a sea change in their thinking. End Summary.

6. (S) Comment: U.S. special operation elements have been in Pakistan for more than a year, but were largely limited to a training role. The Pakistani Army leadership previously adamantly opposed letting us embed U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) with their military forces to support their operations. The recent approval by GHQ -- almost certainly with the personal consent of Chief of Army Staff General Kayani -- for SOC(FWD)-PAK deployments to XXXXXXXXXXXX appears to represent a sea change in Pakistani thinking. Patient relationship-building with the military is the key factor that has brought us to this point. The Pakistanis are increasingly confident that we do not have ulterior motives in assisting their operations. In addition, the direct recipients of SOC(FWD)-PAK training appear to have recognized the potential benefits of bringing U.S. SOF personnel into the field with them for operational advice and other support. In addition, the success of the initial deployment to XXXXXXXXXXXX likely helped catalyze the follow-up requests for new and repeat support.

7. (S) Comment Continued: These deployments are highly politically sensitive because of widely-held concerns among the public about Pakistani sovereignty and opposition to allowing foreign military forces to operate in any fashion on Pakistani soil. Should these developments and/or related matters receive any coverage in the Pakistani or U.S. media, the Pakistani military will likely stop making requests for such assistance. End Comment.

Proof. This WikiLeaks saga has just confirmed everything we "paranoid conspiracy theorists" had thought previously. Our leaders, political and military, have made deals with the United States selling our principles for peanuts. "No foreign boots on Pakistani ground" Musharraf used to say. Well, maybe he meant the US soldiers will fight barefoot.

In public, officials oppose the drone strikes - which have killed hundreds, including an unknown number of innocent civilians. In private, it is a different story, according to a cable from Ms Patterson. It says Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had no objections to a planned drone attack.

"I don't care if they do it, as long as they get the right people," he said. "We'll protest in the National Assembly [parliament] and then ignore it."

Tacit approval from GOP!

Yes to drone strikes, no to drone strikes...So who are American policymakers supposed to listen to? The voice of the GoP leadership or that of the people? Or are they one and the same, merely psychotic in their efforts to avoid courage and responsibility for making difficult choices?

They will listen to who they want to listen to.

And if there is nobody, they will listen to themselves.

You need to draw a difference between the "paranoid conspiracy theories that the US is runing all over Pakistan at a whim doing what they want and the Pakistan Army asking for specalists to asist.

NOTE: The cable says the Pakistani army requested the assistance.

there are a few special forces guys going out in field under the super vision of the army. as long as they are under amy supervision i dont have a problem with it.

American military personnel are present not only in FATA, but have also been conducting operations in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In one of the WikiLeaks Us Embassy Cable, Ambassador Crocker requests that the UN request to ban JuD be delayed until American military personnel are out of AJK and NWFP. See below:

Classified By: Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker, Reasons 1.4 (b) and (d)

¶1. (S) After reviewing the time line presented in ref A and B for moving forward with the UN 1267 and domestic terrorism finance designation of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) as an alter-ego of current terrorism finance designee Lashkar-e-Tayyba (LeT), Ambassador requests a two-week delay in pre-notificaion, presentation to the UN 1267 Committee and in the domestic designation. Post’s preferred timeline is:
-- pre-notification: no earlier than 30 March -- request to UN 1267 Committee: no earlier than 15 April -- domestic action: no earlier than 15 April

¶2. (S) Post’s reasoning for requesting this delay is based solely on force-protection considerations. DAC-PAK personnel will continue flying helicopter sorties in North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (AJK) until the end of March; ground support personnel will be deployed in Muzaffarabad, AJK as long as the helicopters are flying. By the end of the first week of April, U.S. military personnel will have redeployed from NWFP and AJK to the Islamabad area, awaiting onward tranport out of Pakistan. In order not to increase the risk to our military personnel as they conclude their successful mission to Pakistan, post recommends that no action on the JuD designation be taken until all DAC-PAK operations have concluded and DAC personnel are in the Islamabad area. CROCKER

NOTE: The cable says the Pakistani army requested the assistance.
I never implied otherwise, sir. As paranoid as I may be, I know better than to assume foreign soldiers would be running around here without Pak Army permission. This isn't Iraq.

The DAC in DAC-PAK is Disaster Assistance Center, these could be the US personel that came in for flood relief and for the earth quake relief in AJK , although we need to keep watch on them also.

Indeed, that could be the case. Thanks for that.
