Osama was hiding in Pakistan , so what !!

It is a sad state of affairs when contributors to this professional site makes excuses for the fact that Osama bin Laden had been kept safely, protected, by the ISI in Abottabad...a city where a scant 8 years or less ago the violent Taliban tried to assassinate then Pakistan President Musharraf.

Ironically all other major captured by Pakistan, I presume by the ISI, lesser level al Qaida and radical Taliban personalities have likewise been captured inside Pakistan.

Pakistan has found a reputation as a haven for al Qaida and radical Taliban, while the people of Pakistan are being blown up right and left by these murdering thugs hiding in the disguise of religion.

It's a sad state of affairs for Pakistan indeed, especially when not even 1 suicide bombing took place in Pakistan till 2004, & America pushed all the Al-Qaeda & Taliban terrorists inside Pakistan from Afghanistan. Al-Qaeda & Taliban still have their sanctuaries in Afghanistan where they operate from, & conduct terrorist attacks inside Pakistan that the US hasn't wanted to root out.

The Bali bomber who was caught in and around Abbottabad knew the location of Bin Ladin, it must have been known in certain jihadi circles that he lived there. I still do not believe nobody knew as the compound was unusual to say the least being the tallest in the area with huge walls and no internet or phone connection that in itself is suspicious. Also what about neighbors reporting peope woud enter and leave the compound in suv car's and the kid's who lost their cricket ball in the compound having to wait ages before anyone would answer the door only to be told their ball was lost and were given 50 Rupee for 1 cricket ball that in itself is strange.
We have no credible information about what the Bali bomber knew and whether he revealed it. If you recall, Pakistan was upset that Australia announced his arrest publicly. If the Ball bomber did know OBL'S location, once he was arrested OBL would have left the compound. That he stayed there means the Ball bomber did not know of OBL'S location, and was probably not looking for OBL in the city, or was unsure. Abbotabad is not a small.city, you can't just search every single house. And even if you tried, people would find out and criminals would leave or go underground.

The kids were probably happy they got 50 rupees. Did any one got to the cops or ISI to file a complaint over getting 50 rs for a ball?

How was the ISI supposed to see this as suspicious rather than a very conservative family that liked privacy?

After the initial bout of realisation and recrimination the usual " I am not wrong - the whole world is" or ' so what if I didn't know what was in my back yard, you also couldn't find out " sort of responses are coming to the fore.

Not unexpected but unfortunate all the same.

Pakistan has always shown a tendency like a doting mother to gloss over the failing of its favorite sons ( PA & ISI) whose ills shall never be visible to the mother.

Someday....and it does not seem far now.

There is no way one can justify or absolve one's self from the fact that OBL was inside Pak . Where he was, who covered him etc is of no consequence. The fact that he was there is enough for anyone to hand his head in shame.

Pak loaned its air bases , took aid all for what ? To house the man behind it all ?

Who cares who provided help to OBL ? Why are we discussing it ? The most dreaded terrorist the world has seen / known for decades was inside Pak. Dictators. Army Chiefs , Heads of ISI, PM & finally Presidents ( note the pecking order) have over the years sworn that OBL is not inside Pak.

If they did not know who will and if they did not know whom were they fooling ?

I am surprised some one is trying to defend here.

The gravity of ISI coverup and outright taking care of and likely using OBL and al Qaida for the ISI purposes is a sad and tragic story of betrayal of the millions of innocent grassroots citizens of Pakistan who do not like nor want al Qaida and it's stooges in their nation any more than we want terrorists or terrorist sympatheizers here in the US.

Excuses are a sign of unwillingness to root out the evil of terrorism wherever it may be found, in Chicago, Detroit, San Diego, Oregon, NYC, Mobile, Alabama, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Abbottabad, whereever....London, Paris, Madrid, Barcalona, Germany, Hollard, wherever.

This unwillingness makes the "unwilling" an accomplice in legal terms.

You can't ask us to be "willing" to fight terrorism and "tolerate the demonaization" of our country at the same time.

.

I really value your posts in this Forum. You bring so much.
However, please present ONE 'evidence' about the official ISI complicity for OBL hiding in Pakistan. Just one! I was reading Ny Times a couple of days ago and the 'anonymous' sources going through the various hard drives etc collected via OBL operation have not found any evidence of Pakistani complicity.
So, other than the noise in media what do YOU have?
Please don't take us millions of Pakistanis as stupid. Even a staunch liberal like me--who, as this forum will tell you, has confronted the fundos over the killing of Gov. Taseer and Shahbaz Bhatti because of the Blasphemy Law--can see the larger picture: Asking Pakistan to compromise Pakistan's strategic interests in Afghanistan vis a vis India. THAT is the main question here. The rest is just details.
BTW, speaking of denials, I can probably copy and paste links to the overt and covert wars America has been engaged in since 1898 alone. I am sure you WILL find some justification for most/all of them. The list is rather long and brutal.

And if he was?

Why would people at West Point know he was there? How would they know?

Well, if Nazis infiltrated the United States and plenty of them let me add, wit ties between them both it would be a little fishy correct? Some might be hiding Hitler. We killed Bin Laden because we kept the Intel from Pakistan, as many officials say they couldn't be trusted. Just one example when Abu Zubaydah was in American hands, but under the impression of being interrogated by Saudis he named Head of the Pakistani air force Mushaf Ali Mir would demand his release.

Would be like Canada interrogating Heinrich Himmler and Robert Gates demanding his release.

Interesting thread Aero.

Though there is ofcourse a big difference with those people mentioned.

Still good thread.

There is a lot of talk about "why OBL" was hiding in Pakistan for so long and more .

Lets see where Pakistan stands in a historical context.

Criminal: Dr Josef Mengele (Angel of Death)

Country: Nazi Germany WWII

Sir,

Thank you for an irrelevant post----now don't get mad at me----Either it was Mengle or whomsoever----they were responsible in the genocide of the jews---a people without any substantial govt----.

Israel of the 40's and 50's didnot have the same leverage over nay other nation first of all---the people also thought differently about the jews as well.

Israelis have to look for the nazis on their own---. The sponsorship of the israeli govt was not on the same scale as that of the american govt----.

Also the nazis went to war as a nation against other nations----they were not a homeless yemeni terrorist---.

And even though the Mengeles took refuge in argentina and brazil---remember they were good christian catholic nations---so there was no clash of religions and beliefs involved over here----.

The laws of engagement were different then and same is true about giving sanctuary as well.

Remember what happned to the Jackal----the terror of europe could not find a place to hide in the end---no nation would hide him---ultimately they gave him up.

So to those who gave thumbs up to this post---including myself----if you look and assess a bit deeper---there ain't no comparison.

Budapest: Hungarian Nazi war crimes suspect Laszlo Csatary, 97, number one on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's wanted list, has been taken into custody and charged, Budapest prosecutors said.

Csatary, accused by the Wiesenthal Center of having helped organize the deportation of some 15,700 Jews to the Auschwitz death camp during World War II, "has been taken into custody," the public prosecutors office said in a statement.

They added that Csatary, full name Laszlo Csizsik-Csatary, a former senior police officer in Kosice, which at that time was in Hungary but is now in Slovakia, "has been charged with committing war crimes."

In 1948, a Czechoslovakian court condemned Csatary, who the Wiesenthal Center said was in charge of the Jewish ghetto in Kosice, to death in absentia.

But he had made it to Canada, where he worked as an art dealer in Montreal and Toronto until in the 1990s he was stripped of his citizenship there and was forced to flee.

He ended up in Budapest where he has lived undisturbed ever since until the Wiesenthal Center alerted Hungarian authorities last year, providing it with evidence it said implicated Csatary in war crimes.

British tabloid The Sun raised publicity of his case in a report at the weekend after tracking down the old man, photographing him and confronting him at his front door.

U shold be smart enough to find out that OSAMA was never living within Pakistan........If ever he lived here he would have been arrested. Since he never came here so he was never arrested....This is the biggest lie after fake 911......so guyz don't just get fooled by the USA,whatever they say. They never had no proof that he was here. If Alqaida claims he was here this means they are all damn CIA agents..........:smokin:

Terrorists: In United States-San Diego: 2 Terrorists Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi settled in January 2000.

Terrorists: In United States-S. Florida: 4 of them taking Pilots Training, Mohamed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi, and Ziad Jarrah early in the summer of 2000. The fourth hijacker-pilot, Hani Hanjour, arrived in San Diego in December 2000.

Terrorists: In United States: All other Terrorists arrived settled in 2001.

Where were CIA-FBI? Were they being protected-sheltered-groomed by CIA-FBI.

How could the world's most dangerous terrorists slip into US from RSA without background checks, Were they Permanent Residents or on visit visas how could they extend their visit visas so easily and again without no background checks and any investigations by US immigrations. Who Sheltered them. How did US obtain their detailed information and malicious videos after 9/11 and not before 9/11.

terrorism, wherever it is found, is an evil. just doesn't make it a universal evil. as always, anglo-americans want to confuse us on this simple fact. but this deception can be easily dispelled by logic. say my girlfriend has a tendency to spend too much of my money, and American Eagle's wife has a problem with getting pregnant - does that mean there should be a world league of men against their women? do you mind giving money to my girlfriend to spend? and do you mind my impregnating your wife?

the truth is: everywhere in the world terrorism is localized both in its cause and its effect, both in the victims it chooses and in the followers it can gather. there isn't a universal cause to terrorism; nor should there be a universal response, much less one dictated and led by anglo-americans who sponsored quite a lot of terror against soviets and chinese and pakistanis. anglosaxons are selective in the terrorists they fight and exclude all turkics from prosecution; chinese, too, are selective in dealing with al qaeda and only target the very same turkics. in south asia, india and pakistan too have the right to discriminate. unless americans pay pakistan very handsomely for the trouble of fighting against americans' enemies, pakistan doesn't need to give a damn

the jews know it was up to them to alert the hungarian authorities to arrest this guy (why else would hungry even give a damn for a guy whose crime was only against the jews?). and the jews know it could no longer pull the eichmann trick.

anglo-americans got the arrogance to think it was everyone's respnsibility to hunt down its enemies and that pakistani sovereignty should not stand in its way of fighting a war of its own selfish cause.

that is why i believe anglosaxons are still the teacher of shamelessness and the jews still their pupils.
