Orangi Town in Karachi retains the top position as world's largest slum

United Nations World Cities Report 2016has named Karachi’s Orangi town as the largest among the world’s five largest slums.

According to the report the number of slum dwellers in the world increased from 689 million in 1990 to 880 million in 2014. Around a quarter of the world’s urban population lives in slums and the figure is rising fast.

SLUM is a generic term, can not be used for Orangi Town which is a non regularized abadi in many areas, Also it is one of the 18 towns of Karachi. So not a slum by any standard. Can be google searched, especially google earth will give a better picture.

Suggesting Orangi is comparable to Dharavi or even worse (it is implied in the OP) is just silly. Orangi is far better in almost all aspects, whether they be paved roads, proper sanitation, quality of houses, etc.

I mean, you are comparing dhravi, which is like this..

vs orangi..

Clearly the definition of "slum" is not the same across India and Pakistan because a place like Orangi would be considered a lower-middle class area there. Dhravi is a truly disgusting, filthy and unsanitary place. When one thinks of the word "slum" mentally, a place like dhravi is the first one to come to mind. Orangi would be considered a lower middle class place by most people.

Orangi town has proper roads and sanitation system . Dharahvi is probably the filtiest place on earth where there are like 500 people for 1 toilet .

A slum in Pakistan is equal to lower middle class area of India .
