What's new

On India's Shopping List, 500 Choppers, 220 Fighter Jets, 12 Submarines

We have indigenously made tejas then Why we need single engine fighter
Bcoz of slow production rate of tejas or Our DM thinking tejas have not enough capabilities ???
Bcoz as you said tejas production rate is way too slow but we have many fighters to retire and rafale and tejas cant do it alone and risks are increasing for india hence F16 as a single F16Blk72 takes twice as much weapons load and still has 40% better combat radius than tejas

so it means

1. 120+ rafale

2.100+ F16s

3. 10 short fin baracuddas + 2 nuclear subs maybe SSBN type

4.250+ russian light chopper with 100 medium plus 100 of a mix of ASW & S&R choppers for navy and some 50 for AWACS and other allied jobs

5.a large ammount and variety of air to air and air to ground missiles and anty ship missiles and torpedos

AApke muu mein Battery acid

The figure of Rs. 500 crore which is being quoted, is not even half the amount being surrendered per annum for lack of timely implementation of projects due to sluggish MoD and FM actions as required. If one is to look at the amount being surrendered under the capital head itself, one will realise that over the past decade the amount that has been surrendered under capital head would have met more than 50 % of the projected amount required adjusted in real terms.

The overall costs have gone to the figure quoted in future terms as lost opportunities and sluggish performance are not taken into account by the cost escalation and inflation, Mr RM (the office and not exclusively the present incumbent is addressed).

There must be a mechanism to reduce the channels of passage and paperwork.

This cannot continue if we have to modernize.

If only we could eliminate certain processes and paperwork processes.

We need a photocopy of Suresh prabhu or Piyush Goyal in MOD, send parrikar back to Goa

But that is where Modi is being ostracised daily. HIs infamous performance appraisal system has created a furore in the ranks of frankly useless and lethargic bureaucrats. Hence, daily you see a new controversy erupt around the GoI, with idiots around him being guided by vested interests.

Unfortunately, I happen to have seen this example up close. The PM simply kicked a$$, which a common Indian does not take lightly. Our Freedom to do everything includes not to work!!!!

Aw, too much sarcasm here.

On point:

PMO was strengthened with people cutting across party/political affiliations only on basis of strong performance and pro-development credentials. One need not be pro-BJP or a sanghi bhakt. One only needs to have strong credentials in administration and execution.

The PM has briefed the ministers only to enable projects. They have no say in approving or rejecting any at their level. The bureaucrats under them can put up proposal to the respective minister. If there is inordinate delay, the concerned bureaucrat can directly approach PMO and also email the PM.

That, is the true kick a$$ style of functioning. Things are moving now, slowly but steadily.

Correct.

But decades of entitlement politics has reduced our country people to what these bureaucratic rejects think is their birthright.

This is why NaMo needs more power and a bit more autocratic.

This 'permanent-job-guarantee-no-matter-what' clause in government sector has done so much damage.

And on top of all this; "secoolarism" has made it worse in politics.

Unfortunately, autocracy is indeed required in Indian set up. I have no two opinions on the efficiency of Chinese in this regards.

Why are the armed forces still more cohesive and performance oriented till date? Because, you don't have the luxury to ignore or challenge a legal military command. The parameters are clearly defined.

The same needs to be instilled into our government and indeed every facet of social life. A citizen does not mean an automatic right bereft of incumbent duty. Simple as that.

The divestment and restructuring being planned is being opposed by the very same people who sit in chairs and crib about lack of development. Their take is, as long as it does not affect them, they support it.

Sickening. But if the present government has to succeed, it has to work to bond the society more tightly and not allow any and all attempts to divide the society.

We should cap the purchase of Rafale at 100 & focus the remaining resources on LCA & AMCA
ya but LCA will get not more than the already orderred numbers and AMCA is still in "design phase" after almost a decade and wont fly till 2020 if we are lucky and join IAF before 2030 till then what ?

We may loose some time, but investing in domestic R&D is gonna help us a lot in the long term. This is something we must do
