“Omnirole” Rafale Steals Lead Over Eurofighter Typhoon in Libyan Operations

As you said mki is also turning into multi role fighter, wouldn't that be better to go for more SU30mki's rather than investing 10 billions in a new platform?

both have different roles..but mki has also been turned into an multi role big rcs and rafale has low rcs.
mki is long range striker.

I think the Rafale will take this, probably because it is not dependent at all on anything of US origin.[/QUOTE]

Exactly & one more thing IAF loves french airfcaft for there high sortie rate & comeratively low mantainence , Thanks .

An upgraded Su 30 MKI can match the basic specs of a Rafale/EFT. However there are limits to the level it can be upgraded because of it's airframe.
Rafale/EFT on the other hand are a newer generation of fighters and are still at the initial stages of their lifecycle. In the longer run, upgrade options of the two will outmatch the MKI.

actually its better than all the above

F35,PAKFA not operational. even if it was f35 may not be as good, and PAKFA wouldnt stand a chance in a2g.
No friend , PAKFA is the first true 5g multi role fighter that has both perfect a2a and a2g roles.
And F18 is far better than rafale in a2g and it can strike targets even at Mach speeds avoiding missiles.

Already mki is multi role fighter, we want medium class fighter else we could have gone for Su35mki.

I prefer it being called a multirole fighter. Where did this term 'Omnirole' come from? Though basically both mean the same things, but it seems to be an effort to give the Rafale's multirole capabilities an exclusiveness.

Omni role means it can ferry passengers other than its 'multi role capabilities'

The word 'Omnirole' is invented by French.

Sorry for off the topic Question....Is Rafael better than Su30 Mki?

Both have different roles....strengths & weaknesses.

And the day both will meet head on, they tends to stick on their strengths.

You mean like this ?

That's a logical answer.I personally think Rafael will win the mmrca contract. Its indeed one lethal fighting aircraft!

Su-30MKIs in IAF are primarily used as air superiority fighters. Although claimed to be multi-role, air-superiority is what they do. For strike/deep penetration IAF relies on Jaguars, MiG-27s and Mirage2Ks - depending on what the situation demands. The MMRCA is to combine the roles on various strike/deep penetration roles into one platform. MMRCA is NOT for air-superiority, imho.
