Obesity in children ‘alarmingly’ on rise in Bangladesh

at least it is better than starving and having stunted growth like many third world countries
Balanced out with enough recreational play after school should be encouraged. Over studying of low quality education at a young age is pointless. High quality education over 4-5 hours a day with the rest of the time towards recreation and productive socializing (encouraging team work) and other activities is a good balance. Also, sleep is very important for kids to maintain a healthy weight. Either it’s early bed and early mornings or late bed and late morning classes, parents need to keep kids to a schedule.

too much KFC?
Where do you find KFC in BD? Our people eat too much of rice that makes people fat. 180 kg of rice per person per year. World's top. In comparison, Japanese eat about 80 kg. Rice helps water to be retained in the body making people obese.

We do not have much protein foods like meat or fish. Too high a population. But, our govt spokesmen keep on blabbering self-sufficiency in the production of food, fish, beef, meat, chicken and what not as if BD is the Paradise on this poor Earth.

You are talking about rural food habit not of city dwellers who are middle class, higher middle class and above. Do you have any idea why so many restaurants are in Bangladesh specially in big cities if people are just eating rice as you are saying? Truth is city dweller's food habit has changed and there are many reason for that. They try to taste different food, rising income level, less time for cooking, lack of space for socialization and many more.

Go check out this Food Blogger group of Bangladesh which has close to million follower and see their food habit and try to compare it with what you have said.

Now counting on these there are so many food vlogger and making good fortune out of it .

I agree. And I am sure this anti-"obesity" campaign is targeted towards the females and is meant to bring androgynous culture and the billion dollar "health, fitness and wellness" industry to Bangladesh in a big way. The world should get rid of this Hollywood and fake Western-style feminist anti-Nature, anti-aesthetic and Capitalist idea of the female to be thin and "fit".

And look at this ridiculous statement the quack in the OP gives out :
Many children are becoming mentally unwell as a result of their obesity and bulky body shape, she said, explaining that "most of them don't like friends, and they're even bored when relatives visit."
No, dear quack, these youth are not becoming mentally unwell because of a made-up illness called obesity and bulky body shape, they are becoming mentally unwell because of social media, adopting aggressive language and behavior and swear words from the internet, from peers and from gangsta rap. Just ban FB, Insta and Meta and gangsta rap and create online forums in English and cheap offline forums like tea houses ( like the adda places in Calcutta ) where people can discuss at true intellectual level about anything from human experience and ideas. You will see change. And dear quack, burn your degree in "Nutrition".
