A Fat-Man-type fission bomb requires a 56 kg core and roughly 85% purity (in terms of U-235). This implies that each "warhead" would require a minimum of (56)(0.85) = 48 kg of highly-enriched U-235.

Very elegantly explained. I like how you just ignored the other 15% required non-purified Uranium because I suspect it would be acquired from previously processed 130 tons (-910 kg) of uranium. Bravo.

The 85% isn't a strict prerequisite for a fission reaction to occur; going under it would simply yield ineffective reactions and a larger critical mass (which offsets the amount of "saved" material in the first place).
